hi davidli , i will be using normal covers. our little boy is also 10 weeks today. he is like a little radiator so i figure if i just take an extra blanket and maybe put a vest on him then he'll be ok. i'm a bit old school as i dont like the idea of baby sleeping bags! when my other two were little (they are 10 and 8 now) those baby sleeping bags were reported as dangerous!!! now they are all the rage.

we are toying with buying a trailer so if we do then i will just take his moses basket too .

We're planning on taking the travel cot. I've just had a thought about being able to put a changing station across it, may make more room in the pod? - well only an idea

Feeling a bit worried about a 10 wk old waking up the entire site and being Mr Popular in the morning lol!

We used a folding travel cot and sleeping bag for our daugher earlier this year. She was 7 months old at the time and we were concerned about the sleeping bag idea. Our main concerned about her moving down into the bag in her sleep. We resolved this by tying a ribbon around the bag just below her feet. This worked well and we were able to move her to the top of the cot to stop her moving up out of the bag too.

Thanks try some fresh air, I like the ribbon idea. My 2 year old has a junior bag and I have been worried about him creeping down to far in it.

Why dont you try a normal travel cot with a gro bag, we used them for our 2 girls, now 5 & 2 at home and camping and would recommend them to anyone.they just had extra blankets when camping.  (gro bags can be found most places now, mothercare etc, for around £20, could even be cheaper. or try ebay .

I bought an inflatable travel cot - takes up a lot less room in the car and is huge when its up. No 2 son stayed in it until he was 2 and a half. I'm trying to sell it at the moment if any-one is interested.

It was fa- nice and cool in the heat but he didn't get cold at night either.

not too worried about him waking people up ...we're lucky cos he sleeps through 10 or 11 hours now...wouldn't worry me if i heard someone elses baby crying either....the only people who may get grumpy are the ones who would probably moan if they heard you snoring !!!!

i've never been on a site yet where it is totally silent.

Agree - we have done the same for both of my little ones.  Standard travel cot - with the little one in a growbag, supplemented by blanket(s).

Hi, my baby and the olders boys all had fluffy sleepsuits over the vest and babygrow as they always moved out from under the covers.  When we camped in June baby was in an outdoor fluffy as I thought it was warmer than the bedtime ones.  She did end up in the middle of the sleeping bag with muumy and daddy, she was her usual star shape and she slept really well!!

the travel cot seemed to be just used for putting her in in the day as a play pen.

We took our daughter camping when she was about eight months old, but did not use a travel cot.  We had her in a fleece all in an all in one grow bag (not the ones for tomatoes), and then a blanket over her, and then underneath she was on my thermarest, and under that a foil back picnic rug.  She slept eally well and was as warm as toast.

From two plus, she has been sleeping on a readybed, basically an air bed with built in headboard and sleeping bag and loves camping.
