That's it - the weather has got the better of us! This week we cancelled our trip to Tregarton Park and booked up to go to Southern Germany instead. I hate to admit that we have opted for a hotel instead.

I have never seen rain like this! It has been pouring ALL day and the stream on my estate has totally flooded again! My garden backs onto it and I am keeping a very close eye on it.

I cancelled earlier this week as I just couldn't get enthusiastic about 2 weeks camping in this. Mind you I am supposed to be going next weekend!

What's the betting that the rain stops and we have sunniest 2 weeks the UK has seen in years when you're in Germany

Do they still have those open air swimming parks in German, with the open changing pods that sit around the edge of the park, facing inward.

I think that's where I got my phobia of hairy women.

Our eldest daughter has just got back from a week's holiday with the school (so that's an educational visit not a holiday then!) and the weather was fantastic (Rhineland). Temperature was mid thirties all the time she was there. We've had a quick scan through her pics and it looks great. We'll be pencilling it in as a possible for next year.

We are sticking with the UK for this year (three short hols cancelled already this year and two more weeks booked up!) but have had it with the weather so are heading to europe next year.

You know, the rain hasn't been that bad down here in west Cornwall. It seems to hold itself in until it gets further east. Not that it's been what you'd call a good summer, mind, but we have our swimming pool up and the kids are out using it. Unheated, too. And I have sunburn from last week in the garden.

It's not as good as the weather in Germany sounds, mind - we're off there in August to the Schwarzwald for the second time. Rhineland is wonderful, we were there two years back, loads of campsites around too. I recommend it.

We have cancelled our holiday in Cornwall and we are now going to Spain.....and no we are not camping either!  Really fed up of the miserable weather.
