I have brought a smaller tent, which doesn't have a sig so I have got an old ground sheet which almost fills the whole of the tent, and also goes under the bedrooms a bit. I have a proper EHU unit but is it safe to use without a sig, as obviously we are more than likely to get wet.
We have an electric heater, but I don't think I'll risk putting it on when we are sleeping or when its raining, do you?
Also the side of our tent in the living area is a good couple of inches off the floor is this right or should it all go down to ground level? at the bedroom ends its flat to the floor its just the middle bit thats draughty!!
My sister clipped her EHU unit onto the leg of a table to keep it off the floor, I hadnt thought of that and was quite impressed. Does yours have the little clips at the back?
just keep your EHU of the floor to avoid any water problems as you don't have a SIG...with regards to heater we use ours at night, just set the thermo to desired temperature make sure it's off the ground (usually stand it on an upturned bowl) and away from anything like bedding and let it do it's job - we do have kids though so I like to try and keep a constant temperature and ward off any damp air.
Flysheets usually sit a little bit off the ground, but it may alter around the tent due to the nature of the ground you are pitching it on.
Hi
I have an metal pole that the RCD clips to,and is then drove into the ground, but with a SIG the table leg Idea is really good. They do recommend that you also use insulation tape as the clip may get knocked of.

I have a storage box with a lid that I keep the EHU and other electrics - lanterns, torches etc in. I usually sit the EHU on this and use it as a little table as it is really useful to put a mobile phone, battery charger on there too.
My tent doesn't have a SIG but it does have mudflaps so no gaps.
