Off to Angleysey in a few weeks and anticipate wet weather. Staying for 7 days. Can't decide whether to take the canvas cabanon or the outwell montana with it's sig and rain porch. We can cook in the cabanon but not in the montana. Can't decide which one would be best for the wet conditions. The aruba is fantastic in hot weather and is 100% waterproof but without a sig or bathtub groundsheet fear heavy rain will flood the tent. I do have the large suncanopy for the montana which would sheler me if cooking outside.

Advice welcome
Hi mylofitz
Well I am a 100% cabanon follower, but with the condition of the ground at the moment, I would take the montana, the SIG will be worth its weight in gold.and If you need to cook outside invest in a 50inch fishing brolly to cook under.see my daughter cooking out side under hers in my gallery.
Have a nice time.
Rex.
PS if you should get a brolly also buy a pack of four clingons and four extra guy ropes&pegs These will hold the brolly secure in strong winds.

Good idea with the fishing brolly as I do have one. Had contemplated in an Outwell universal side canopy but prices and availability seem to vary enormously.
Definately take the montana at the moment but there is a change in the weather due so your cab might get a reprieve.........dont forget the footprint for the monty!!
Thanks for advice. Currently in the lead is the Outwell. Reviews on the optional side canopy have all been positive so might buy one of those for our trip for cooking under and sitting out. Will leave the front sun canopy behind.
I have an outwell oregon 5 and am very impressed. Stood up to torrential downpours a couple of weeks ago - not a drop seeped through.
Does anyone know if the outwell optional side canopy fit my oregon 5 as this seems like a 'must have' optional extra.
we were going to get a montana 6 but had an offer of a life time with a vermont L for £100 brand new from where we store our van, so we went for that but definatley take the montana especially with the sig

We have the monty 6 with front canopy, we put the windbreak around the front poles of the canopy and it makes us a nice shelter to cook under. We also have the footprint and it makes such a difference to the sig when packing up. Etive, its safer to cook outside the tent!
Just bought the universal canopy and ordered some additional delta pegs for it. We also have the front sun canopy which we have never used. Went to Caseys on Saturday and saw both the canopys (canopi?) set up. Didn't realise how big they were. Looking forward to next week. Definately taking the Montana this time.
Thought I'd made my mind up with the Outwell especially with new side canopy but all this sunshine is making me think about taking the Aruba now. Going on Monday.
