We were taught a brilliant game recently using just the tiles from scrabble and any flat space called "take two". Very fun and quick to play and as it's just the tiles it is easy to fit in and store. (It was also easier and much much quicker than scrabble and I would recomend trying it even if you are not super scrabble fans!)

Each person takes 4 tiles to start with from the bag. You each have to make your own little crossword, like you would on the scrabble board but individually with your own letters. So with your first 4 letters for example you might be lucky enough to make two words that fit together such as cat and to.

As soon as you are able to make all your letters into a complete crossword, ie all are words and all fit together you say "take two" and EVERYBODY has to immediately take two tiles from the bag. You now all have 6 letters to make into your crossword.

You are allowed to undo parts of your crossword or the whole thing entirely at any point in order to fit all your letters into your crossword.

When all the tiles have run out then the first person to have a complete crossword is the winner.

We were then given a couple of minutes for everyone else to finish and then we made up a story which had to use every word in your own crossword! Not sure if I would always do this but was quite funny to put the words together :)

Our friend says that although it works with 2,3 or 4 people that 3 seems to give the right amount of tiles for everybody.

On a silly note. At the end of last weekends festival, one of the girls was utterly fed up of her wellies.

So......a wellie wanging contest was had. The field was mostly empty at this point.

Kites are great fun for all the family.  Have a look at the movie 'Chesham kites mini movie' from this link.

takes a while to download it, but unbelievable some of it.

I have another game for two.  On a piece of paper wite a series of 'pegs', one on the firstline, two on the second line, three on the third line, and four on the forth. Hopefully like this:

       I

     I   I

   I   I   I

 I   I   I   I

Take turns to strike out as many adjacent horizontal pegs as you like (you can strike out the whole line, part of it, or just one peg).  The object is to leave the other person with the last peg. I.e.

       I

    I     I

  I    I    I

I   I     I    I

I hope that makes sense.

A family favourite has been Yahtzee we have a travel version in the car it costs about 6 quid. Its a simple dice game that scores similarly to poker it provides instructions and score cards in the kit, we never go any where without it. The kids also enjoy travel versions guess who and connect 4 we bought cheap versions of this at tesco they cost only a couple of quid each and if things get lost or broken they are easily replaced.

In good weather we also enjoy a game of garden darts, when our freinds come along with their kids we make a tournament out of it and have a great laugh.

We took a couple of games from Aldi similar to Guess Who and Hangman to play in the tent. Haven't played Uno for ages. We played Mouse Trap in the caravan at Kingsbury Water Park last year. There are some playing cards and a box of dominoes in the van.
