Anyone used one of these? They have a comfort rating of 8 to 20 degrees and an extreme temp of minus 5. Two season apparently.

I'm aware the ratings aren't to be taken as gospel so wondered if anyone had any personal experience of this or similar?

Only planning to use it in warmish weather and have taken the advice already about insulating layering.

Thanks!

Yes i have a range of Vango sleeping bags including the Wilderness square which is quite an adequate bag for normal weather conditions. Many people assume that an extreme conditions bag is better for people who suffer from the cold but really they only work best in the extreme temperature conditions that they were designed for. A quality 2/3 season bag should be perfectly adequate and Vango is a good make.

Brill, thanks to both of you. Have ordered two for a bargain £12.50 each from All Weathers so will have Vango bags to match my Vango tent!

Cheers,

Lorna.

I would also recommend using bag liners as well. You dont have to buy them its easy to make them out of old sheets or something similar. You will always be warmer by using layaers rather than bulk so a bag liner will add warmth to your sleeping bag. In addition it is more convenient to wash a bag liner after frequent use than it is to wash your sleeping bag.

Yes I was thinking of using an old duvet cover to make a couple. They are mummy-shaped bags which will make it slightly more difficult but hopefully I won't mess up too much!

I heard it's also a good idea to lay a silver car windscreen sun reflector screen on top of the airbed (or even underneath?!) so will try that too.

Thanks for the tip.

My misses and myself use these for summer/early autumn use.

I have no issues sleeping in mine with just my boxers on but when away last week the misses complained that she was cold on a couple of nights. Not had any issues with them before though!

She has said she wants hers replacing with a bag that is not a mummy one

Thanks for all your replies and sorry I haven't got back earlier, been off work and can't access messages on this site while I'm logged in at home for some reason. I can read them if I just go into the site as an anonymous guest but then can't reply!

It looks like we should be ok with some liners and warm clothing and I'll bring a duvet for the first time in case.
