Your roof box for the car while camping?

Do you leave it on or take it off and store it in the tent?

It stays on, its out of the way. Can cause a problem in some car parks though.

It stays on ,uses a LOT more petrol thopugh ,so I think if we were to travel a fair way on the motorwat or something we would take it off and shove it in the tent!

Hi,
We have a trailer now! But when we went for the week with the roof box we took it off and stuck it behind the tent and used it to store the buckets and spades and swimming gear etc. It was quite handy.

We only really use it when going abroad, when we went away last August we took it off, roofbars and all and put it behind the tent.

It's not scary enough if you do it when the car isn't moving

We leave ours on and don't notice any difference in fuel consumption.  (Big box on the top of a 307 estate)

Thanks

We have just fitted ours to the top of the trailer, so easy for storage while on site and no worries about going into carparks etc while away.

We leave ours on. We've not long come back from our first camping trip and OMG what a squeeze! We've got a Mondeo and with the box on the roof we thought we'd have loads of room. How wrong we were! Hubby's now bought himself an old wreck of a trailer and is in the process of doing it up. He's gonna fit a board to the top and either fit the roofbox to it, or a cycle rack. Hopefully next time the kids won't be so squished in the back lol
