I have just come back from a weeks camping at Waren Park, Northumberland and I feel the need to have a moan about the lack of consideration of some campers:

As we have a large tent, i notified the site before booking and booked a double pitch to accomodate tent, car and trailer. I was then faced with other campers pitching their large tents, then placing a gazebo where their car would go and then their car/ trailer in front of their tent, when this occured with groups of two or three i felt i was camping in the middle of a car park while these other groups took over the field utilizing oversized windbreaks. I cannot understand the need for groups of campers to create their own campsite within a campsite isolating themselves from everyone else. My wife overheard a group looking to book 5 pitches for next year they where told that they could accomodate 3 but the other two would have to be near by as they had a policy not to put large groups together, thier reaction was "well pity the people between us then"

OMG- I think we camped next to those people a couple of weeks ago! Lol. We had to live with the car park look, though because of the neighbours really invading our space-it was the only way to keep them a little bit away from brushing past our windows on one of thier MANY, MANY trips through our pitch. God luv um

Hi
There are sites to suit all. We like sites were we can have a chat if it suits both but retire to our own pitch to relax.
This is the reason we use C&C Club sites and CS & CL sites as well as small private sites we have found over the years,
Some large families or groups of friends like to camp together this is also fair play. It just means if you don't like this type of camping, you must do your research before you book or go, ask on here ask the site owners, what to expect, But we must all remember we all like camping and we choose ourselves were to go.
Sorry to hear it spoilt you stay but leave a review so others will know what to expect. We campers really must live and let live
Rex

We had an experience like that. We were on our own for most of the week, then a family turned up with five tents and surrounded us with their cars, trailers, windbreaks. It felt like we were under siege. Had been to the campsite before and had a great time. We are returning to it in a couple of weeks, fingers crossed we will be okay this time.

We had an experience like this. One lovely couple turned up. beautiful frame tent....followed by son and daughter in law,one small tent and their son a little pub tent.

I was hacked off one morning at 8am when the young son and dad decide to play GOLF! out side our tent ! I asked nicely if they could watch where they were hitting the ball as I have a young daughter who was sitting outside our unit in their firing line.

I had a negative response and play continued albeit in a different direction. I hate to moan but no more 'good mornings' or 'hellos' for me for the duration of our stay.

We were camping in shropshire this weekend and a large 2 family group repeatedly walked past our tent a couple of feet from where we were sitting, rather than giving us a bit of space. They did back of slightly after I made a comment when they were passing, but not a great deal.

For some reason they also seemed to give us dirty looks for most of the w/e (before my comment) and then drove rather fast six feet from where my children (3 and 5) were playing on their way out. It seemed rather like they wanted their own field.

I was rather pleased when I met them as we were leaving with our trailer on the long single-track road. It took around 30 seconds, but eventually they relented and reversed, making me smile as they grimaced!

I dont know why people have to be like this, camping is meant to be fun for everyone and it is getting popular by the minute. We all camp for various reasons and should all respect each other and our spaces around us. it is only curtious to be polite with a cheerful good morning or whatever.

This may rock the boat but here goes. Our last holiday in Cornwall consisted of my family , my brothers family, and my sister-in-law's family. We purposely booked three pitches together in a row and we always put up our day tent with a gazebo to use in the evening. We tend to have the day tent and gazebo on our pitch so I have to park my car on the front of the pitch. We would however never pitch right up to the boundary of any of our neigbours. My view is that I have paid quite a few £'s for the piece of grass that I am pitched on and collectively we have to pay for the day tent and pay for the gazebo as well. It is not a matter of fencing ourselves in as we dont like using windbreaks as they case too much noise at night if it is windy. We specifically take the time to talk to neighbours and in fact on our last visit we had both neighbours either side of use join us for a last night drink.

Late evening noise is not acceptable and yes manners cost nothing (there are many people these days that have lost this ethos) but I think we should also appreciate that many people camp for different reasons and being able to holiday as one family is one of thenm for us. We get away at least  4 times a year as a family including long weekends but I confess that our families week away is the one I look forward to most.

I had something similar to this when we were away 2 weeks ago. The pitches at the site were very tight and although there was a small car park at the entrance to the park, the owners prefered you to put your car on your pitch. Opposite us a family turned up with a HUGE tent 2 cars and a gazebo. Well with the size of the tent there was barely enough room to park one car and still have a small area to sit but two cars was virtually impossible. They then proceeded to enclose their pitch with windbreaks, which I don't have a problem with at all, but did they really have to do it in such a way that the water tap was INSIDE their windbreaks!!

Well they decided to keep both cars on their pitch (well I say on their pitch, one was half on the very narrow road). They then went off out in the other car leaving the 2nd car parked in such a way that I couldn't actully get my car out!!  I was not impressed!!

We've just come back from a week in Newquay at a small, family campsite.  It's the third time we've been there and we really like it.

We don't have kids and everyone has their own type of holiday......and we prefer to go to a site like this (a family one) than one where there's large groups of people making lots of noise...

However, this time round we were pretty knackered all week because we were woken up between 7am and 8am every morning.  Now this might not be that early for some people and I'm not saying we wanted to wake up at 10am every morning, but we wanted to relax and take it easy.

It got a bit annoying because we were woken up every morning by people either playing with their kids or shouting at them.  It gets a bit frustrating when you are woken up by this every morning.

At night after 10pm there was hardly any noise and people were very considerate to those with children trying to sleep....  yet come 7am and the kids were awake, everyone was awake.

Please don't anyone tell me we should go camping elsewhere where there aren't kids because we really like this site, i'm just trying to make the point that it's a bit of give and take.  People were quiet at night so why can't people be quiet first thing in the morning or at least not play football or bomb it around on skateboards.

We had our only bad experience at an adults only site a few weeks back, though not as bad as some of you have had.
A couple of men camped next to us, they'd had hours to blow up their mattress but decided to do it when the majority of the site was in bed including us, discussing loudly everything from the price of bread to the prime minister they'd obviously never heard of keeping your voice down a bit when people are asleep. Then 7 in the morning they were up full of the joys of summer letting half the site know it.
I don't think they meant to get on peoples nerves they were obviously new campers who didn't know any better

Some people are just inconsiderate and you have to accept that with camping.  I have boys, 8 & 6.  I go with quiet activities for them to do aswell as trying to encourage them to have some freedom and be outside and play!  I don't like to constant noise, so my children are told to be quiet when I feel its unacceptable and I am very aware of my neighbours.  However they are children and they don't behave like adults, they are still learning what's socially acceptable.  It's the adults I have objections to they should know better.  If you are letting your kids get up early and play football and bombing around on skateboards at that time in the morning then you need to be told.
