we got 2 to match our diablo 900 this year, mainly to keep the kids next to us on pitch and to use our seaside ones on the beach, we also have a problem with space so found them excellent, very compact and small. we used them for the first time this year on a site in cornwall, on the edge of a  beach, facing the sea. we also got the canopy incase it rained and we wanted to put the cooker outside.

a few nights we had high winds coming straight off the sea and straight into our tent, my husband spent most of the week figuring out the wind direction and moving the 2 wind breaks accordingly and each night we were still standing due to the height of them sending the wind over the tent, whereas a lot of tents and gazebos were collapsing or had taken off, if we had used the lower wind breaks the wind would have filled the canopy and sent rain straight onto our equipment. we want to return to this site so have just ordered a 3rd one (to get the matching colour) so we don't have to move them all the time. this means that with 3 we get to cover all sides so toddlers can't escape and no wind!!!  we won't always use the canopy or all 3 breaks but everything is so compact you can take it and use if necessary.

we got ours from www.outdoorworld.org.uk £24 plus post bit expensive but as i say we were one of the only ones still standing!!  there is a downside though....there are a lot of guy ropes on your pitch with the tent and the windbreaks and there aren't enough ropes with the kit, we've just asked for some more and it's best to use heavy duty pegs we get them from www.camping-online.co.uk for £6 something then they do not go anywhere

we really like them and if you have enough space the guy ropes don't have to be a problem

We have two vango windbreaks, I agree that they are a good height and very stable when you get the positioning of the guy lines right. I found it quite tough to fix the rings over the pole ends but the hubbys brute force worked a treat. We also have the canopy which is fab, giving us lots of extra space.

Hi,
I would agree with Jo's comments about getting the rings over the tops of the poles, I found this very difficult and im quite strong, it doesnt help that the rings are very small so its not easy trying to get a decent grip.

In the end I used the ring of a peg to lever them over, probably not advisable but it worked for me.

If anyone has any other tips for getting these rings over the poles id love to hear them.

Cheers
Paul

we have 2 vango windbreaks (picture of one in my gallery) found them to be very stable although did take ours down in near gale-force winds after I saw someone's gazebo fly into a nearby tent!! - thought better to be safe than sorry!...however we are really pleased with ours, paid £24.99 each for them from outdoorgear4u....but also ordered another item which meant we got free delivery as total was over £50....  the vango windbreaks are much taller than the old outwell one we had and seem much more stable.   Didn't have any problems getting the ring over the top spike but we didn't put the bottom spikes through the bottom rings - this might be what has caused difficulty for other people?, we just erect the poles slide them up through the pole sleeve passing the spike through the ring, don't try to attach bottom rings, they just won't go, I think the bottom rings are for extra pegging out if required, not for the pole spikes.  We had elastic band/rings on the bottom of our old outwell one and these were for pegs not poles.

Vango windbreaks are just the job for us. They pack away to about the same size as a kiddies play tent.
