This is my first post on here, but I have been using site for a while, stayed at Spiers House (North Yorkshire Moors) last week, and due to leave for Roundhill (New Forest) tomorrow, and then on to Deven or Cornwall.
The reason I have posted here is I am looking to buy a trailer, and wanted people opinions of makes etc.
I have seen a Humbaur which are apparantly supposed to normally be expensive, but I am totally unsure of which way to go.
We have a Brenderup trailer, not cheap but it has proper sized road wheels which was important to us.
I'm not heard of Humbaur, the most popular makes are Daxara, Erde and Brenderup. There is a camping trailer on the free adds at the moment - an Erde with a hard top.
I agree, go with bigger than what you need. Although there is a member on here with a great set up, he's got a small trailer with a hard top then he's got a roof box up on some racks.
We have a 4x6 wood trailer and it holds all of our gear, the sides are about 2 foot tall and that extra depth really helps as nothing goes over the top.
If you need a tow bar as well, I suggest Towequipe, We paid 150 for the towbar and installation and they come to you.
i have got a caddy 530 trailer with highside kit fitted and find this has enough space for all my camping equipment leaving my boot free luggage and beer of course
I have a caddy 530 from Towsure ..... Enough space (at the moment) for all the equipment leaving boot clear for dogs. But the way SHMBO is buying at the moment we may have to get the extentions. As for towbars, it really comes down to how adventurous you are? I got mine from diytowbars at a cost of £77:00 and fitted it myself. And believe it or not it works perfectly
Quinthunderer, thanks for posting the link for me, I missed that request.
waggler, sorry about missing your request for the link. I have never had the pleasure of going to Texas. It's about a 14 hour drive from where we lived. We lived in a wonderful town on the southern east coast. Really miss it with these rainy days here.
Interestingly I'm just asking for quotes from someone to custom build me one. So far the prices I've seen have been far less than the Erde one's.
I'd like a trailer that can pack down as small as possible for storage when we've finished with it. I don't really want to store it on the drive and the garage is full of motorbikes!
We have one of these instead of a trailer. It sits on the towbar and because it doesn't have wheels you are not restricted to the lower speed limits for towing. Excellent bit of kit.
