If EHU is electrical hook up then no you don't need it for a cooler if you are prepared to spend some serious cash, as already discussed i have seen these 2, the sibir in action on a 4 day cub camp and it worked brilliantly....

I'm hoping that these start getting cheaper next year but it will run on Calor gas.

If not i was wondering if you could get a wind generator and solar panels hooked to a camping battery and run your cooler that way, i'm not sure how this sort of technology stands in camping but sailors use on yatches them all the time.

Hi willshirew.
The Sungas is a pretty standard absorbance fridge But like most will only cool to 20Deg. C below ambient temperature.
So once the temperature in your tent reaches 23Deg C your fridge will not stop the growth of bacteria but will give you cool milk and beer,
The other one I am unable to find a manufacturer's spec. so can not comment But There are 3 way absorbency fridges that cool to 25Deg C and I did find an expensive one that claimed to cool to 30Deg C below ambient temperature.
Before you buy a 3way fridge I recommend you check them out to see what they cool to before you buy
All the best
Rex

Thanks for the reply Rex, truth be told i didn't even consider ambient temperature but it's a really good point.
