I am wondering about the merits of a day tent. Does anyone know if the one currently 39.99 (half price) in Argos is any good? Or are there better gazebos/day tents which don't break the bank?

We bought a Outwell oklahoma to use as a cooking, eating, relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening tent.

I decided we had to do it after the loss of 2 expensive gazebos!! The cheap £9.99 stood up very well though.

the outwell is sturdy, had sides ( mesh or closed), windows with curtains and did the job perfectly. I also don't have to worry about it blowing away and wrecking someone else's tent.

The argos tent looks great, however i have tried EVERY argos within 100 miles and they have none in stock AND its not available for home delivery. What a bummer.

We boughht a 'Royal Standard dayroom' as our 'Day Tent'. We cook, eat and spend our evenings in it.

It is easy to put up has three windows with mesh and 3 doors. And it has withstood some really strong winds.

We paid about £79 for it 2 years ago.

Another vote here for the Royal Standard Dayroom.  It came in handy a couple of weeks back.  I bought it about two months back and also paid about £80, but where I got it from no longer stock it and the next cheapest price I found was quite a bit more.  But it's worth hunting down; sufficiently spacious for a range of purposes and very sturdy.

The large Royal dayroom is available from Norwich camping and leisure for £99. Jackson camping also seem to have them.

I personally do not like gazebo's, they are fine for use in the garden during the summer but they are not designed for campsite use particularly when the weather can be so indifferent. A day tent is far more substantial with extra guys to cope with our great British climate.

Hi Thanks for the recommendations. After fruitless searching at Argos I have admitted defeat with that - no one has it in stock so will look at the ones mentioned above. Thanks again. Off to get wet in the New Forest tomorrow to try out new Outwell Oregon 5 - bought in the hope it is easier and quicker to get up than the diablo and (this looks important given the forecast) easier to get down in the rain with less to dry out after. Our diablo inner was diabolical to dry after having to pack it away with a few gallons of water inside after the May bank hols.

We have just taken delivery of a Royal Summerhouse, 5m accross the centre.  It's big but really handy at home in the garden and when we go camping.  I paid £79 last week on ebay from Tamworth camping.  Cheapest I could find on net was £119.

Andy
