As I am now a very excited and pround owner of a new monty 6 (I Know I'm probably boring you all to tears!) I have a query.

Cooking - what do you fellow monty owners do?  I have an outhouse that I use to cook in normally - should I carry on with this or is it a bit OTT?  I have the canopy for the monty and had thought about cooking under this but am a little concerned as I have kids and dogs and I wonder if its advisable still to cooking in the kitchen tent out of the way?

the choice is yours really, we have the vermont L (very good price) and even though it has the porch area we have brought the monty 6 canopy and have tall wind breaks round the side to stop any wind, my kids arent a problem as they tend to stay in thetent whilst i am cooking (they know they get no food if they run off lol) plying with their toys. but we do take a little outhouse for keeping our suitcases and roof box in.

hi linzi

yes its fits it very well just like a glove, as the vermont and monty are the same size height and width top and bottom, also went to the beauly show in inverness 2 weeks ago and saw the vermont XL with the canopy on the front and the wxtension on the back.

I think the vermont L and the vermont XL ere differant widths , so how does the monty 6 canopy fit both tents?

Kitchen tent is a good idea, keeps the fires away from little feet and big feet and reduces condensation build up and food deposits via steam in your tent.

We have the side canopy for our Monty and tend to sit and cook under that. Saying that we also have a sunncamp day tent and where there is room we also pitch that to eat in and sit in in the evening.

Not OTT al all..... we have a big tent - Vango Killington 900, plus a large sun canopy on the front.... and we have a utility tent too which we use as a kitchen tent, we pitch it up to the side door. Only problem is finding a pitch big enough and taking ages to get set up.

I also have the extension which I think was an investment well worth having - and I cook under that the same as Irn Bru - if I rmember rightly it was his pci that made me decide I wanted one.

But if you have a cooking tent - use it - you will have side protection which your canopy does not offer!

I have a Monty 6 and use an Outhouse as a kitchen. I prefer the space to setup and leave it all in place, away from inquisitive fingers (big and small) and of course for the safety factor. A nearby cooker exploded on site last week, hate to think what would have happened had it been in a tent or even under a canopy attached to a tent...
Everyone has to make their own choice of course and space in the car, kids, dogs, money all make a difference. I prefer my own little kitchen.
A.
