 Arrived in Cornwall (Hollywell Bay)  the weather was awful!!! Wind Wind and more Wind.

our 2nd night it rained and guess what it rained in big time!!!!

The wind was that strong it snapped our tent frame,which i returned to the supplier yesterday not impresssed at all........ they refunded us and apogised.

The reason for the posting can anyone recomend a tent.I am looking for  6-8 sleep plenty of room to cook etc

the tent we took away last year was great rainforrest 6 man.But felt it a little small.The tent just returned to the supplier was a sunchamp (blasted thing)

Any reccomendations would be really appreciated feeling really deflated with it all especially as the family had to cut the holiday short.

budget for the tent £200- 250.

We live in Cheshire any reccomendations for campsites as do not fancy 6 hour journey like the one we do to Newquay.

We went to Cornwall last week and our tent took one serious beating both wind and rain. I am happy to say it stood up to it all.

We have a Vango Oregon 600 but with your budget i would go for something a tad bigger.

Cant comment on other makes as i have only had Vango to date

We too have a vango Oregon 600 which has stood up to some serious weather and not let us down.  You should easily be able to get the 800 for under £200.  It's a super tent, well worth looking at.

If it was a sunncamp I'm sorry you had a bad time with it. Mine has been utterly reliable.

Take a look at the Outwell Indiana 6 or 8. We have the Indiana 4 and it is very strong and was battered last August and stood up really well. It is very heavy as it has steel poles.

It is very spacious and has a detachable porch.  I understand the Indianas are being discontinued at the end of the season so you should be able to pick up a bargain

Campsite in Cheshire - try the new Camping and Caravaning Club site at Delamere Forest, it is a wonderful site.

dave-t have you been to the Delamere site?  We fancy tryiing it but it sounds as though it willl be more 'lush' in a couple of years.

We went to Trevornick in July/August - it is a windy site as it is coastal.  It wasn't a site for us, she says politely, I'm still trying to find the words to write my review. But we saved our sanity by heading across to Dornafield in Devon.

How about River Dart Campsite in Devon - just off the bottom of the M5 so easy to get home and it's supposed to be great for activity types. Lots of watery based activities and it only took us 4 hours (with stops) to get home to Cheshire.

I've a Vango Diablo 600 and once up and pegged, is as strong as an ox.. and very cosy in the extremes....

Anything with a steel pole structure and a history of quality tent  making -

Vango Aspen ,Outwell montana ,coleman quadspace and loads more

( I can only reccoment thse 3 cos I have tested them in extreme conditions ,would never try to reccomend a tent that I had not tested in bad conditions myself )

we had to end our holiday early because of the wind.

The caravan site we rang (where we've been going with parents for years) said the ground was a bit wet but there was space, although they were expecting more rain.

Arrived, to find the field I specifically asked about under about 5 inches of water with the gate padlocked, and the other field available for tents with huge puddles and no way a car would get out.

They had put a 'sorry no tent pitches available' sign up, and I asked if they had anywhere else we could go, and they said no,

So we found somewhere else, but it was on top of a hill and the weather in Norfolk up until today has been awful.  All we had was strong winds, rain, and grey misty skies.

Weren't due to come home until yesterday, but we came home Wednesday as the tent looked like it would snap under the strain, and we had to sleep in the car because of the noise and movement of the tent.

I'm going to write and complain the the first site, as if they had said it was flooded (we knew the weather wasn't going to be great the time we were there, but we wouldn't have minded) we would have gone somewhere closer to home where the weather was better!
