We've got an SV8 and have found it to be fine in winds, it moves about, but not alarmingly so. Just try and pitch it so the wind isn't hitting you side on and you should be fine.

Laurence

Thanks Spalt and paullyn, that's put my mind at rest somewhat! :)
After countless hours of choosing our 1st tent over the web, today we went to completeoutsdoors.co.uk to see tents "in the flesh" - I really didn't want to have to rule out the Sun Valley and go back to square one!
After a windy few days in Dorset last week we took down our SV8 to find one of the poles had split. It was very windy and the tent was really blown about, however the split didn't affect the tent while it was up and we only noticed it when we took it down.
That being said it hasn't put me off the Sunvalley it is a fantastic tent and I can't see anything else that would tick all our boxes.
we had ours for about 5 months now and used it 3 times thus far twice in angelsey where the trees grow sideways, no problems stood up to high winds and torrential rain

As the Sun Valley is a tunnel tent the correct way to pitch them is tail end into the wind, not side on as pointed out by Laurence above.
If it isn't windy when you arrive look for signs of which way the wind normally blows, a pointer as Phil says above is to look at the trees, not foolproof as winds do tend to swirl around but the trees will lean in the direction of the prevailing wind.
