HI

Just got back from a Camping CLub Meet in Dorset. We couldn't get over how friendly people were and would have the time of day to stop and chat.  When we arrived it was very windy and we were just pulling up the tent when a gust of wind came from no where and near enough took the tent and us with it, next minute there were 5 or 6 campers upon us helping us out it was a great help, without them i just dont want to think what could of happened. We met some very interesting people including an 81 year old lady who was camping in a little one man motor home she was amazing. But  our neighbour directly behind us in a motorhome was ever so kind to us gave us lots of information and recommendations on camping in France. The night we were leaving we had everything loaded ready to go and someone spotted that i didn't have any lights working. This man from the motorhome came across gave me a hand and then gave me a spare fuse infact a whole bag of fuses incase i broke down again on the long journey to York.  A real treat to be away and have such friendliness.  (what camping is all about helping each other out),

Hi colin
You tend to find this at camping and caravan meets, these are the campers who like to be with others and enjoy meeting new people, you will never get the loners or the m-------e campers their. And most of these campers would have started out in tents so do not look down on tent campers like some of the new caravan and motor caravan owners do, cannot bring myself to call them campers.
Regards
Rex

I looked at some of the meets in the C&CC book, but most of them say own sanitation.  Do you manage to fit a portaloo in or have you found some that have facilities.  I would love to know as would love to try one of them next year.

Many thanks

 Hi Caz890

We have the luggable loo in our toilet tent which is fine, we will be thinking in the future of a portapotti because you can flush them within the cassettte.  But yes we have no problems at all, we do look for the meets that have facilities because obviously it would be better to have full showers etc, but were managing, we have only done two meets this year and have enjoyed them so far because, we feel you have more freedom, you haven't got your pitch size to worry about and take up as much room with your toilet tents and more etc just as long as you are 20 metres away from your neighbour and you can leave exactly when you want to which we did at 9pm.  It was great you get a full day in.

Go on and try them your be surprised how much you enjoy it.

we also had a luggable loo, and used it with wag bags, which was fine for the purpose of over night 'wet' use, which is why we bought it.

having used it at our first C&CC rally as our sole 'facility' ie all day and all night including no 2's, we very quickly noticed the benefits of a chemical loo.

In defence of motorhomers  - on a recent trip, we arrived in the dark and had to pitch without enough light. Things were getting tricky (and it was spitting!) when a lovely couple in a motorhome turned on their headlights, and floodlit the area for us. It made our day

Hi grumpylady.
The majority of Caravan and motorhome users are just sensible matured ex tent campers with years of experience and will always take the time to help a novice with advise or physically if they are able, but I am afraid that there is a percentage usually young and well off have come into
camping in all units, these people are not the type I like to associate with on site, enough said, as they are entitled as much as me to be there.
Regards
Rex
