What a brilliant holiday we had and how lucky were we with the weather! It was awesome weather.
On arrival it was windy, as expected, we managed to get the tent up, we had someone come along to help as my sister couldn't bend. Once the rods were in and pinned it was a doddle. I used the Delta tent pegs and once adjusted, the tent needed no further adjustments, even though I checked every day.
I was a bit scared initially as the Cornish winds were strong (warm but strong!) and with it being a new tent, I was unsure how it would be, but I needn't have worried.
I can highly recommend Keneggy Cove, we've booked again for next year, it's quiet, peaceful, overlooks the Atlantic and the grounds are beautiful like a garden really.
We got out and about and spent the late afternoons and evenings lazing in front of the tent relaxing and drinking wine - bliss.
One thing, it sounds so much windier inside a tunnel tent that it ever did in our other one.
I am sure something came in a couple of nights, wandered around in the living area and then went out again. I could hear something padded around.
One thing we did worry about was the amount of space at the bottom of the front part of the tent - it left it very vulnerable for the wind and if it had rained heavily we could have been possibly flooded out.
Don't know what to do about this though.
Anyway roll on the next trip which will, probably be me on my own for a night in Youlegreave with my pop up Outwell.

This is our corner of Cornwall! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, it is always a bit windy here, I grew a fine selection of creeping asters, recumbent honesty and the like before I got smart and started to garden with the climate. You can choose places down in the valleys if it bothers you, but then you get cute bosky scenery instead of those fantastic Atlantic views that really are the character of Cornwall (IMO).
As for the gap, you could always get an oversize tarp groundsheet and use those wurmi pegs with clips to make an upstand around the edges if it really worries you?

Just done a search for the site you mention-is it this one http://www.johnfowlerholidays.com/kenegie-manor.htm as they don't seem to do camping?

Tinatyke you have brought back memories. We used to take the children to Kenneggy alot when they were young, haven't been for ages. Must get OH out that way for a walk at the weekend. So glad you enjoyed your holiday and hope you come back soon.

I am not really aware at how much things cost for camping.
My sister is on a very limited budget and only gets one holiday a year that she can afford. Kenneggy is where she wants to be and so me and my hubby pay the campsite fees. She saves up all year so that she can buy the drinks and have some pride and I have to say she does a magnificent job, we had Berengers sparkling Rose chilled to the bone, 2 bottles of Champagne (Hubby's treat to us though!), a box of Sauvignon blanc. copious amounts of cider and beers and she did all the messing about with the fridge and blocks which I hate! lol I never once received a drink that wasn't ice cold.
I did the meals. Took a slo cooker, prepared it all in the morning before we went out and it was ready to eat when we got back after our wines and beers, a few bags of boil in the bag rice and we were sorted.
I haven't really compared the camping fees here to anywhere else. We went to Dawlish Warren in Devon which was nice and that was for 3 nights and that cost over £60 2 years ago and we had to pay for the ice blocks and showers.
At Kenneggy freezing as many blocks as you like is free and the showers are all free, in fact the showers are out of this world, spotlessly clean and piping hot at all times.
We have booked for 20 July next year for a week and I shall lolk forward to it all year.

And Mini, I am sure the campsite will have changed since your children were young, you may be in for a treat when you take a walk. Please let me know what you think.

Tina we just got back (tuesday) from near wadebridge and also got good weather except for the first 4 days. There are some really nice beaches and coves around there. It was our first time for many years so were pleased it all went well for us.

The beaches down in that part of the wqorld are sublime. I just love it. Glad you got good weather. I agree the best of the weather came after Tuesday. We just basked in it.
