I tend to use the expedition plus mozzie repellant and mosquito coils and it works, plus i wear a light wicking shirt. As for condensation, the only way to really control it is by getting a good air flow between the inner tent and the outer skin. A footprint groundsheet is ok but if you are improvising then you should never allow a groundsheet to go beyond the pitch of the outer as you get a layer of water between the groundsheet and the the inners groundsheet and this causes leaks from the innertent groundsheet upwards.
