Help!!  Just bought a Coleman Darwin and then spent the best part of 3 hours trying to work out how to put it up!!!    (Did manage in the end after much huffing, puffing and a bit of swearing).   I got this tent because it was meant to be 'Easy Up', but to paraphrase Jim Royal...."Easy up my ****"    (Sorry to be so crude).

The guy's who 'wrote' the instructions must be Egyptians 'cos they look like hieroglyphics to me!!

If anybody has a Coleman Darwin I would greatly appreciate any hints or tips!  (like, which pole do you put in first, do you put in all the poles and then locate them in the rings or do you put a pole in and fix it immediately.  Do I need to peg the tent out first or is that the last thing I do?)

I need to get this sussed before our first trip way next w'end!

Thanks in advance

Nan

Hi Nan, afraid I'm not familiar with this tent, but take a look here at some previous threads on it, some do contain pitching tips. Good Luck

We found the instructions fairly basic too (luckily my husband is one of those who assemble something and then look at instructions when the jobs done!).

We followed the order that the poles are shown in which i think was basically from the longest, from the back towards the front of the tent. Once all the poles are through, then we placed them in the rings. we pegged out last of all. We took ours to dorset over b/h and put it up for the first time on site (stupid or brave?). It took 2 of us just under 1 1/2 hours to fully put up and peg out.

good luck, we love ours - especially the storage area at the back of the bedrooms - what a fab idea!

Isn't the storage area at the back fantastic!  We haven't slept in ours yet, just got it ready for the weekend.  I can already see that the kids are going to use it as a den!

Regards putting it up - we got really worried as it seemed a real struggle to force the poles into the sleeves and then an even bigger struggle to push them into the eyelets - we were really worried about either ripping the tent or snapping the poles!

Both myself and DH 'read' the instructions and interpreted the order for doing things differently!  I'm like your other half - I tend to just go fo it without reading the instructions - DH is always telling me to RTBM.
