We have EHU but the fridge we are using is far too small to be any use.

We could do with about a 30L - 45L size portable one and if possible

could do with plugging it in the car when we set off and the plugging it into EHU -

Can anyone suggest what and where to buy??

Many thanks

Yvonne

Hi Yvonne

Might be worth having a look in Castlecroft Camping at Radcliffe as well, they have quite a good accessory shop and we've had loads of stuff from there in the past. BTW, hope you don't mind me asking as a point of interest, but where in Bolton are you? - we are in Astley Bridge.

We got ours from Halford, I think it is 36ltr and it was on offer around £50.  It comes with the lead to plug it into the car while travelling and then we just transfer it with a normal three pin plug transformer to our EHU in the tent.  It has been a really good investment and is plenty big enough for several cans of Coke, 6 bottles of Stella and all our breakfast stuff like butter, a 4 pinter of milk, eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms and evening meal essentials like mincemeat or chicken fillets.

You never know, our paths may have crossed at some time or other. I suppose there must be loads of people in Bolton who go camping, but this is the first time I've ever "met" anyone.

I'd google table top fridge as you'll then get a shelf and ice compartment

I'm going to sell our combicool and get one of these instead (and an invertor for the car)

Use a table top fridge - Brilliant!

We have it plugged in at home first so its cold and pack a few things in it before leaving. We also have a 150w inverter so that we can have it running in the car on very long journeys. The fridge itself only uses 68watts so no problem running it in the car.

Its got to be one of our best buys for camping!

Hi Yvonne
More important than price in my opinion, If you intend Getting a Tec cooled 12volt cool box is to look for the ones that cool to about 30deg C or at least 25deg C below ambient temperature. Most will only cool to 20deg below ambient temperature that means if the summer temperature gets up around 28 deg c you box will only cool to 8 deg not cold enough to keep your food safe. I have an Igloo Koolmatic one that cools to a quoted 30 deg below so they are about.
