Been camping last 2 years and absolutely love it, love the freedom and the friendliness of other campers.  Now that autumn is here (in scotland anyway) I know I won't be camping again this year (doesn't help that my husband works shifts and is working the next 3 or 4 weekends).  I am already suffering withdrawel symptoms (we were only away 2 weekends ago) and can't wait till next june to start again.  This website keeps me going.

Does anybody else feel this way about camping or am I just strange?

we use to have a caravan but we have a tent now so i cant go all year round ,we went xmas .wish either r weather will be nice or tents get better warmer and more stronger to cope with the weather .this will do my head in being at home  how will i cope

Hi vangogogo.
No your not strange, you are perfectly normal to want to escape the modern rat race we have to exist in today.
The people who scoff at us campers who spend all their time in built up places were they are looked after with kid gloves were they remove their hard earned money from them in two weeks, were we go back to our roots, well a little way back
and allow our minds to relax to the tune of nature.
No you are just like most real campers.
PS don't put you equipment away you can get good weather right up until November, after that there is not much light so We then put our tents away until spring.
EHU are advisable in April & may and September & October

We have been camping in October before but as said before, it is advisable to go with EHU so you can run your heater as it gets MIGHTY cold when you are sat in the middle of a field in a tent !!

I wouldn't write off this year just yet - you never know, another weekend of glorious camping could be just around the corner!  Me and the OH went camping for 3 nights this weekend gone, and the weather was amazing.  We booked it a few weeks ago and were determined to go whatever the weather.  However, one thing I find is that no matter how warm it has been during the day it does get very chilly at night!  Lots of layers and a hot water bottle do wonders!

We have been in October, and once in November, without EHU. We have warm clothes and good sleeping bags, but we tend to eat out in the evening at this time of year because of the daylight. Give it a try on a dry weekend, maybe even just for a Saturday night to see how it goes.

Take note of what Fozzy Bear says about it getting cold at night, layers and hot water bottles. Wearing a hat in bed also helps keep the heat in.

hiya all, thats it for us this year.we went last week and the night time temperature was just about baerable for our 3 and 5 year olds.were were going to try out our new monty 6 this weekend but the little fellas got a cold.we have been quite lucky with the weather considering the crap summer weve had. so, we can safley say our first year camping was a big hit. cant wait for next year....

Diito Jayandruth.

Just got back from a great weekends camping at the Picadilly Caravan Park (although we were in a tent).  It was rather cold (to say the least) on Friday but last night was fine.

We had our first dry weekend camping this year!!  Me, the OH and the tiddypeep had a great time but it's time to pack away the tent until next year now. 

This was our first year camping and we've absolutely loved it.  We'll be back again next year.
