Hi

Sleeping bags are normally rated by "season" so go for a 4 or 5 season sleeping bag.

Personally we use fleece sleeping bag liners and wear thermal base layers when it is really cold!

I bought one of these as i too feel the cold easily!

long link for a small bag LOL priced down from £30 to £15 500gsm which i think is 3-4 season (if its not it ruddy well should be!!!)

The quality isnt amazing, but its certainly better than the tents! and dont even think about using this if space is a premium in your transportation its far from compact even though it does come in a compresion sac type bag.

Used it at the start of summer and was way too much for the weather we had at the time, and it wasnt overly hot outside.

well worth a look IMO

ROB :)

http://www.gelert.com/Products/Technical.aspx

the Lynx 400 are 4 season and not to expensive, they are very warm bags. Keep my kids warm and they hate feeling cold.

http://www.waudbys.co.uk/products/details/1929.html

the above are 3-4season at a decent price.

I would definately get a fleece liner for this time of year as 5 season bags tend to be very expensive

If you intend on winter camping for a good few years then it is worth investing in a good bag, I have a Snugpak 5 season, it cost me 80 odd something pounds over ten years ago and still keeps me warm and has been a superb investment. Modern technology in mountain bags is far superiour to to the cheaper bags that claim 4 season, remember its about wicking as well insulation. If your snug at night then its pricless, nothing worse than having to keep putting on layers to stay warm in the middle of a freezing night

I have been intrigued for some time so must show my ignorance and ask:

What is a 5 season bag meant to cover?

Last time I looked there were only 4 seasons in the year!
