Just wondering if it's too early to be thinking about booking up for Easter.
Easter's quite early this year, March 21st, is the weather likely to be too cold? Yeah, I realise it's nearly impossible to predict the weather in this country, but I was just wondering, based on your previous experience.
We're newbies, camped for the 1st time in September this year (we had fantastic weather ) so we don't have much experience to go on.
I have booked provisionally as I want to stay on a site that only has 1 ehu and I want it. We have a caravan but have camped in the snow (Lake District 1994), freezing! The shhep came down off the mountain and huddled around the tents.
We went to IOW for Easter last year and it was brilliant. Not sure about going in March but I am very tempted. It was such a good way to spend the hols.
Well ive booked the time off but not sure. The weather was great this easter but its a gamble for us to reckon on it twice on the trot.........The temp dropped to 2 degrees at night and the hot water bottle had to come out!!
I am planning on going away for a few days just after Easter. Just take warm clothes and some extra bedding. It is probably going to be the next chance we have to get away, and am looking forward to it already.
Easter is one of the few bank holidays we like going away for, tends not to be too crowded, unlike those in May/August. As others have said just be prepared for some cold nights.
Go for it teamdiabalo, would suggest booking early Easter tends to be the first time most people go camping in the year, but suggest some extra blankets etc.
We camped at Eskdale this Easter and the weather was wonderful during the day but did get cold at night.
We also camped the same weekend in March that Easter is due to fall on next year. Were near Carnforth, Lancashire. We had cold but clear sunny days which were just lovely, and very cold nights. Must have dropped below freezing as there was ice on the inside of the tent. However we were well layered up, hats, decent sleeping bags etc and we coped fine, including 3 and 5 year old kids.
Wouldn't like to do the cold with wet weather too though.
From what you're all saying I think we'll give it a try.
Any tips on how to stop the cold from below coming up through our sleeping mats?
we've got some thick self inflating jobs from Decathlon which are really comfortable and I guess a blanket over the top will help, but what should we put underneath?
