Hi corpo,
Cheer up me duck,In my oppinion the C&C Club sites are by far the best sites for any unit in this country and the service from the managers is acceptable most of the time.Price wise they allow val and I to go to a good clean site at a very resoable price out of the main seson,I just wish they would act fairly to all the members,it is not a lot to ask.
Rex.

Hi Fatbum.
How do you define moaning This club was set up for campers under canvas. I have been a member for many years and have seen the sway to the other units The only reason the other sites do not allow caravans is 100% down to access and the local government in that area not the C&C Clubs choice like it as made with a couple of recent site purchases.
And why should I leave The C&C Club it is the unit you use that is not a true camping unit, no my friend you will have to put forward a far better case to get me to leave the club

And if my posts get on your nerves don't read them, start a subject off yourself that interest you, that would be interesting,
No FatBum you have a nice evening and I recommend you don't get involved in posts that upset you.
What do you think they have spent on new sites again this year a few million pounds at least, some of that could have been used on all weather pitches for tents, not just for the people who need hard walls and running hot water.
and do not like to get their unit stuck in the mud
So my friend, your point is taken but not accepted for in my opinion you have not thought it out fully and your theory is flawed.
Just answer me this, we know they have to cover their overheads, were did the money come from to purchase eight new site this year.
all the best
Rex

Actually it was set up by a cycling club here in my home town Oxfordshire who happened to do lightweight camping and then progressed. I have no doubt those original folks are turning in their graves at what the club is becoming and what we today consider camping. Never mind when the yuppie campers disapear and our sport/recreation goes out of fashion watch those clubs suddenly realise how important their grass roots members are

If the C&CC did provide all weather pitches for tents they would still have to charge the same for EHU on those pitches as they do on all their others.
I'm curious about all weather pitches are they like astroturf which is used on artificial football pitches? if so how do you peg a tent down without causing damage? Are there any commercial sites that have them?

Maybe one thing we can agree on is the money that the C&CC is wasting on statics or mobile homes or whatever they call them, these are neither camping nor caravanning in my view. Maybe this money could be better spent elsewhere.

Hi again fat bum.
Yes I will agree with that, at present they are attempting to run our club as a commercial enterprise with an aim to buy more and more sites and this they say as their aim.
The all weather pitches that are suitable for all users and as been discussed on our forum are dug out as normal hard standings are prepared and filed with approx 4" of pea gravel, if the soil is soft and the gravel would sink then it could be coated and puddled with clay like a pond.
These type of all weather pitches would be suitable for all units and would extend the camping season for campers with tents.
We have never complained about pricing but the present system is unfair and as been brought about with the law
regarding the resale of electricity.
But it is now up to the C&C Club to play the game and be fair to all its members regardless of what type unit they camp in.
When you talk about an EHU today you are talking about a serviced pitch that as you know can mean a pitch that may have a hard standing or may not with a EHU to use. The amount is preset at 16 amps which will allow campers to use up to 3800 watts or 3.8 Kw. So there is no problem, if you need it use it, they will still be making money from it, if we all used the maximum.
So if the C&C Club is not prepared to supply all weather pitches for tent campers then a reduction in price on the serviced pitches that do not have hard standings. For members only.
All the best.
Rex

So why are electric serviced pitches more expensive at Windermere than their other sites in the lakes?, I don't understand that

I am a tent camper and have only done so this year for the first time, I joined C&CC back in April and have stayed at 2 of their sites both of which I have been pleased with the facilities

however, I do think they are more expensive than similar sites I have stayed at (esp if you add on a non member fee which raises the cost considerably) and I also think they are tending to lean towards the caravanner

Take Troutbeck Nr Keswick, lovely site but why are the toilets situated near the static caravans and tourers pitch and furthest away from the tent field when it is the tent users who need them the most?, this really put me off and will prob stop me staying there again (I'm not lazy it's just that in torrential rain the walk to the loos was just too much!!!), they should have another facilities block built near the tent pitch

As for EHU, we have one but we only use it for the kettle a couple of times a day and a heater which yes may stay on all night when it's cold but has a thermostat on it so we don't use much at all, I think if the electric prices went up much more I would seriously consider taking the EHU

C & C C are committed to acquiring more sites to give the members more choice of sites - I would say that is in the members' interests so why do you think it is wrong, Rex?

I agree that on a lot of sites (commercial as well as Club) the toilets are nearer the EHU pitches - this is down to the costs of installing facilities - the further the electricity & plumbing has to go then the more it costs.

I went away in my caravan this weekend - because of the insulation I didn't need the heating on at all, had I been in either a tent or my trailer tent the heating would have been on.

This appears to apply to most of the new C&CC sites, and also to the existing sites that have been "upgraded".
