Hello,

For next year i was thinking of getting the outwell side canopy for our SV8, but really wanted to know if it was worth the money?

Does any one else use one on the SV8? is it easy to attach? do you still have accsess to both the side doors? Can you keep the side door open in the rain with the rain canopy on, as this year we found it hard to keep the carpet dry with the kids running in and out all the time.

Sorry for all the questions

Jason

We thought about getting one, saw one on display at the Yeoman's tent show. Personally, I didn't like it. The guy there said it has to stand off the tent so you're still going to get rain inbetween the canopy and the door. I also wonder how much usage you really get because you have lots of guys on the side and the canopy has to go over those as well.

I would save your money and just get a nice door mat type of rug for the front entrance and have all shoes taken off at one door. That's what we do and it works great for us.

Best Wishes

We had a couple of these when we had out Montanas.  We really didn't use them after a couple of times.  We found we really could not find a reason for them for our style of camping.  They are open so cold not be used for storage.  Rain does get between the canopy and tent.  They don't really shelter the wind or rain so not really worth while sitting under in bad weather.  The tents we get now have a built in front caopy/porch which is much better.

we have the side canopy on our winfield and arizona L...best £60 we have ever spent. The way we pitch it isn't as it shows in the pictures of it, we tend to pull it right over the back so there aren't any gaps between the tent and the canopy. I've sat under it and watched many a thunder storm and stayed bone dry. It is great for stopping rain dripping off the door when it is unzipped, thus preventing a puddle being created in the doorway! Doesn't fit the Arizona as well as the Winfield tho, but gives us extra living space in the smaller tent!

Each to their own I suppose.

Hi chandler21, you wil be pleased to hear that Outwell are producing a purpose made Side extension for the 2008 season. These fit perfectly to the shape of the tent with no gaps like the universal canopy and in matching colours.

The SV6 appears to have been revamped for 2008....Anyone know if the 2008 canopy is specific to the new 2008 SV6 or if it will also fit the earlier SV's

Cheers.....

I too have one for my winfield bought it this year after we went away durng the floods! yes there are gaps but we only had a problem with driving rain for the most part it kept us dry. It meant we didn't have to lock our sleves away inside all the time.

I love it and have used it everytime since.
