We have camped at Easter in the Lake District and have had both heatwaves and snow in different years. I'm sure with the right heater etc and plenty of clothes and insulation you will be fine. The very first time I camped with my parents it was August Bank holiday, in the Black Mountains and I swear it was even colder, no snow though.
Brewood camper, I have a question for you, as you are in the right area for our Easter stopover on the way to Snowdonia, do you know Coven? There are 2 small caravan sites there apparently, have you seen them and know what they are like? Have stopped at the site at White Pump Farm on the A5 but fancy somewhere different.
We start our camping season in early spring and camp right through into autumn sometimes early winter .
Whe it is very cold ( minuses at night ) we take an EHU and a halogen heater and leave it on all night
The air in airbeds will make you feel cold but it is not much good protecting hte airbed from the floor as the air temp around the airbed will chill the air too then draw heat away from your body with convection .Best think is to protect yourself from the air in the airbed by putting something ontop ( rug ,spare sleeping bag ,blankets ect )Rather than just underneath :)
Another good tip is to get washed and change into your sleeping clothes before the sun goes down ,then shove your day clothes back on top ,that way you are getting into bed in already warm clothes rather than wasting body heat with cold clothes .Of course if you have a very good technical sleeping bag ,its best to sleep nakey as your body heat heats up the bag then the bag gives you the heat back like a storage heater
We use the underlay used for laminate flooring (2-3 layers as it is thin) below our double height airbed, then a mattress topper on top.Winter mummy bags , nice and toasty.. regards john.b.

We went camping at Easter many years ago - with frost overnight although the temperature rose quite a bit during the day. Two days after we returned home our then 4 year old son developed pneumonia!!
It put us off camping for quite a while. We sold our caravan last year and definitely see ourselves as fair weather campers. We agonised for ages over the October holidays, but eventually chickened out and borrowed my parent's caravan.
went camping at easter for first time last year days where ok nights on the chilly side but was great campsite are not as busy as they are in the summer but wouldnt say they empty, we had a great time so much so we doing it all again this year different site and a new tent this one we can get into it stand up and move around cant wait its seam ages away but its not
WE went at Easter last andhad lovely weather during the day.I have photos of the kids on the beach in their tshirts. But the nights were a totally different story!!! Was so cold. Kids and OH were fine was just me that suffered. Andthat waswith a camp fire, I kept turning myself so I could warm different sides of me LOL.
We've already decided Easter istooearly for us this yr, So May will be our first outing.

Last summer must have been one of the worst on record for those under canvas, We went the weekend before Easter last year, and although it was cold at night, the days were the best we had all season.

We camped in Carnforth, Lancashire on the same weekend that Easter falls on this year with our then 3 and 5 year olds. It was very cold, had frost on the tent and the car was iced over in the morning, but the days were absolutely glorious.
We had decent sleeping bags, thermal underwear, PJs, socks and a hat at night and were really rather snug. Had a extra fleece ready to slip on before going to bed and when waking up and we did have a small fan heater to take the chill off when we were un/dressing. It certainly hasn't put us off from booking for the lakes this year.
Not sure how it will be if it is really cold and rain as well, but we will take that chance.
Easter last year was fabulous weather, we spent it in Eskdale
Dont think I can add anything in terms of advice, but we had our first ever family camping trip in Dorset last Easter, took all the hints and tips on offer on threads like this and were fine, although we did go out and buy a little heater for our 2nd night! A real contrast to the 1st week of the sumer holidays when I have never been so cold and wet for such a prolonged period in my life. Still it hasn't put us off - we also have the camping bug and cant wait for our holidays this year ( although Trailer Tents are starting to look appealing!!)
camped on a ukcs meet at dent last year weekend before easter without EHU, it dropped to about minus 5 overnight. made 1 mistake and that was changing into my fleece tracky bottoms as I went to bed they were cold as was my sleeping kit so lost a bit of warmth
my advice, roll mat with self inflating mat on top, good quality 3 or 4 season sleeping bag as many blankets for extras. clothing, thin layers, ended up sleeping with a heavy fleece on and hat/gloves. it was that cold. dont drink beer as volume of cold liquid try a wee drop of whisky
annoying thing about last year was that that was my best weekend weather wise as every other weekend was wet wet and a bad gale, at strathyre in may the wind was so bad I bailed out and dossed in the car, at 3am that night/morning having the van seemed like a good idea. as for the cold go for it, you can keep warm,if you have kids cuddle together to keep warm
would I camp again in those conditions.... yes it was a challenge
