Well, I can only go by what I've seen and what I've read here about how they behave. And there definately is a growing treand for campsites to ban them, and they don't do that for no good reason. I'm sure your's is a good quality one and you use it responsibly, but that doesn't seem to hold for many others, either through lack of awareness or just don't care.

I'd go for the utility tent aswell, we bought one on a whim when argos has them in the sale for £35 at half price. Best bargain ever, especiallly with small childrens. ( can also be somewhere to hide the porta potty aswell!!!)

I use a fishing umberella if its raining other then that just cook outside. Am i the only one that thinks putting up a kitchen tent and having to pack it is just an inconvenience?

Blimey, people don't 'arf get righteous when it comes to things-we-don't-do-that-should-be-banned!?  One of the sadder aspects of human nature?

Re gazebo's, aren't they all some type of tent, just some more robust than others?  Khyam sell a big day job that they call a gazebo, and it looks like it's got enough pegging and guy points to be a good'n.  Then there are some that look more like kites!

I'd have thought it comes down to people being sensible.  Rugby playing Reg's gazebo/day room looks sound, and he sounds like a grown up type who'll want to take care of his own property and not damage others.  I'd guess/hope that campsites also take a pragmatic approach when it comes to judging if people's set up's are up to scratch, rather than blanket bans/rules (or if not, they're not the place for me!). 

So , I'm with you on this Reg, rather than the brow beaters! Cymru am byth, Twickenham here we come!

I agree with Val, one of our motorsport campites is on a hill and is always busy, we've seen so many broken gazeebos bowling up and down the hill (depending on the wind conditions).   One of the chaps hired a motorhome last year as the weather was foul, he stuck a cheap gazeebo outside of it as well (don't know why) woke up in the morning and thought someone had nicked it. Turned out it had damaged a number of cars include a windscreen where the leg of the thing had protruded into the car.

I've seen this at a number of motorsport events but rarely on campsites as most folks know better and many sites ban them.

Don't forget in your garden they are probably much less exposed (wouldn't use one unattended anyway having seen the damage they can cause).

I'm really unhappy about camping if there is one next to me.

Speaking as someone who personally wrestled two flying gazebos to the ground last year, during high winds in Cornwall, when the owners had gone out for the day,  I would entirely agree with the above comments. They just aren't designed for camping in our climate and, unless you are planning on staying near it all day and night (just in case the weather does change and they decide to morph into giant kites) please please think again - unless you are happy and willing to fork out for the damage it does to your neighbour's tent?

Day rooms and utility tents are made for camping, and are surely the more responsible option. Like Piglet, gazebos which are pitched near to my tent make me nervous!

We use exactly the same one for cooking in and can thouroughly recommend it. We pitch it right up to the side porch entrance and it acts just as an extension to the main tent, doesn't feel like a totally seperate tent.

We only live down the road from you in Upper Batley.  I was just looking for info on a canopy or extra utility thing. What make is yours in the photo? If you dont mind telling me how much did you pay for it... Cant decide between a Kyham coverered wind break, a canopy or one like yours......
