We're going to get one of these for this summer. Can't seem to find out on the internet though what you put in to keep them cool. They have a draingae sump which suggests ice, but then you can buy flexible cool packs for them too. So, how do they work, anyone know?
I have one of these and we just use standard ice packs/blankets with it. It works extremely well, thanks, I imagine, to the very thick walls and lid which are the insulation.
We have one and used it for the first time last summer, so perhaps not a good example of the hottest weather we could get. We used a mixture of 1lt squash bottles pre frozen and bags of ice cubes, which once they melt if you leave the water in, it stills keep your food just as cold (alledgedly). Obviously your food needs to be well sealed if you leave the water in. The squash bottles were still partly frozen after about 3 days. Also froze our milk (4 pint bottles) and lasted all week.
