Hi..Im new to this forum, but this looks like the best place to seek some advice :0) lol

I am the owner of a Conquest 4 Person Tent from circa 1984! its still a great tent, but is not larger enough to contain my growing family. Its easy to get completely overwhelmed by the array of new tents available, but having been used to cotton flysheets in the past, I would like to upgrade, but still keep to this type of tent fabric. Although the choice is limited with this, I am almost settled on the Khyam Indiana 8 TC. Has anyone  owned or used this tent before? We have the Campus Indiana 8 from the days when Khyam were Campus, but it's not the poly cotton version, which looks very nice.   Space wise it's a fantastic tent, we are a family of four, two adults and children 14 and 11, who each have their own bedroom. Good living space and very sturdy in wind and no problems (touch wood!) with leaks or rain.  We love our Indy and it looks pretty much the same in the polycotton version. It's not good for us because we have nowhere to get it dry should we come home with a wet tent.

We bought one last year and sent it back.  The reason was that one of the poles snapped and a second was fractured and going the same way.  We used it for one holiday during which time we erected the tent twice.

I think they have changed the design slightly as we did not have a SIG but I don't know if they have changed the poles which were very heavy and not up to the job. 

I would agree that it was very heavy and bulky.

Someone else on here had exactly the same problem as us, so this was a definate design fault.

The poles are really thick compared to the ones you get on the nylon tents and extremely heavy so you would think they would be up to the job but they just seem to fracture and split when you bend them into place.

So unless they have changed these I wouldn't bother with this tent.  We ordered it online and when it came I really was surprised at how heavy it was.  We then replaced it with a Cabanon frame tent which really is a lot easier to put up and we knew what we were getting because we already had two small Cabanons anyway.

The price was what tempted us to buy it in the first place but afterwards we decided to get a bit more money together and buy the Cabanon.
