Were we mad !!!! We gave up after 2 days of of constant rain and 40mph+ gusts of wind ,arrived on Thursday and lasted 2 days the came home , had planned to stay 4 at Normans bay near Hastings, we knew we were in for trouble we we arrived only one other tent was on site. The wind was almost constant with up to 48mph+ gusts according to the met office website, the Montana 6 stood up well but it wasn`t much fun not knowing if the next gust of wind would be too much for the tent to take. The EHU went out several times (6+) duriing the time we were there , which worried us that it may not come back on again. The kids had fun I guess , but not a great experience packing up in near gale force winds with driving rain, still nothing was damaged and no one was hurt, but I must say I will be more careful in future camping this early in the season.
Hi Robecox.
All campers go through these experiences, some survive and carry on camping some drift back to the warmth of an hotel room. Next year at this time may be dry with no wind. But realistic family camping in my opinion is a six months out of the 12 in a tent,
But good for you for giving it a go, we all go on learning something every time we pitch and it is not always pleasant .
Just think of the excitement those kids had, well worth it.
Rex
