we survived 2 grown ups + 3 kids all under 12 camped at eastnor deer park

lol very exposed near malven hills tent was pegged out on thursday day time with some very interesting looks from fellow caravaners around it was a fight to get it up but once up it didnt budge , thursday+friday nights were bad almost sounded like a plane was taking of next to us and going to come through the tent very strange hearing the wind come through the vally then hit the tent. lol kids slept well and so did i , wife was up all night  after that the rest of week was great

we  were the only tent in the whole sight and many were impressed with it and how it stood up to the weather

there was even the od caravan that had its ornings ripped away shame.

we will be back there in may

We just survived 4 nights in our Hartford XXL we managed to pitch in the sun and put it down in the sun. It rained for the rest of the time but we had two Halogen Heaters and thanks to all the keeping warm tips on her we were fine. Sat at home now with a glass of wine hoping the next time we go away it will be warm, sunny and..... Nope we are going to Eskdale I suppose we can dream.

Good grief!  The town is full of campers!

I'll tell you what, andspive, you've not yet gone camping but you've got some serious tent there!  I can't imagine that you've had a trial pitch in Simmondley - there's nowhere flat enough!

Survived !!

2 Adults and a 10 yrd old under canvas at Birchwood nerar Matlock. Wind on Friday and Saturday was terrible. Lost a wind break, but tent withstood it really well (Alaska 8)mind we had already survived 70mph winds at Reighton the year before with a split shank on a pole the only thing to show for it... so 40-50mph gusts were a breeze, pardon the pun. Impressed with the tent.

The cold was an issue, we are well equipped and were dressed warmly, but the butane canisters for the heater were freezing up, so it became a struggle saturday and sunday (particuarly night time) to keep the tent warm.
Campinggaz canisters faired better but still suffered.

But home safe and well. We will next time think better of it if its going to be that cold, but hey, still good fun. The magic of waking up to heavy snowfall under canvas is something everyone should enjoy at least once.

We survived 2 nights in our outwell nebraska xl 2 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs it was in the middle of a blizzard when we arrived on 24th (mon) we stayed at castlrigg hall in keswick.

Normally a beautiful site but this time the toilets in the tent field were shut they are redeveloping them and the site was littered in fallen trees and several piles of earth and stone where piled up. we where dissapointed and they didnt mention this until after we had paid.

We know easter is early but at peak times and rates we did expect it to be it better condition or at lesast warned of the condition of the site.

I survived a windy/rainy night down at Hayling Island in my brand new Quechua 2 xl 3 man last night (Saturday 29th).

I didn't take anything other than sleeping bag, mat, blanket and a re-chargeable light that hand been charged prior.

But I cheated a bit as I pitched next to parents caravan, so watched tv before sleeping in the tent. However, I turned down a hot water bottle as even a 38 year old has to consider his street cred  (Although I didn't turn down the eggs and bacon in the morning!)

The Quechua stood up to it well although I double pegged the points and didn't use the guy ropes as it was piddling with rain and i wasn't sure how to attach them as first time used tent (plus i am stupid). However, will definitely be buying Delta pegs as I did sleep with worried thoughts that tent would collapse or something.

When camping in a tent, my wife likes it erect ASAP but when camping in the Cali, my wife likes it up nice and smooth.

Hi Deadly dor, just noticed your question on pitching the Monty 6. There have been a number of strands on this topic in the past. If you do a search on Montana 6 it should bring up the previous info.

Personally we pitch our Monty by raising one top section and legs at a time. We peg down the rear and then work forward pulling the tent out like a bellows as we go. We found that trying to raise the tent with all the roof and leg sections together was quite heavy and  difficult. We let the tent down in a similar manner working in reverse order, with the door open. (Getting it back in the bag is the difficult bit!.)

Excellent tent!

Hope this helps

Steve & Sheila

We survived easter sunday till friday at Anglesey in our Minnesota 4. No problems!  Although it was VERY windy and rainy on thursday night and kept us awake..BUT.. the tent didn't budge...good old delta pegs again!!!....it was cold outside so we wrapped up warm and had a great time. Lots of insulation and extra bedding and we were warm and toasty in bed that is until the airbed 'died' and we ended up on the ground at 1am....lol..... SO now looking for advice on a 'good' airbed to buy.
