have to agree with Fatbum, as campers, trailer tenters backpackers and now caravanners with a bit of backpacking thrown in on my side  over the last 34 years we can honestly say on CCC sites  that unit type made no difference to pitch offered- size - yes, we have to book with the site directly now as our van is longer than most standard pitches & therefore we find it difficult to use Club Rez, as a matter of interest I can remember on Rallies the steward digging the lat hole, ( hole dug in ground to use as a toilet - pre porta potti) my mum was secretary to CYDA  in its infant days & regales the tail of one steward turning up on his pushbike & digging the lat hole with a large sheath knife & having nightmares about him being a mad knife murderer, another tale I tell is of my mates leg going down the lat hole whilst astride it when hit by a football hitting the toilet tent walls, I won't get maudlin & say those were the days, happy memories yes but we move on - I never imagined 15 years ago when the whole family backpacked that I would be a tin tenter

We are in the C&C Club have been in many years and hope to stay in for more. Not too bothered with the Mag can do without it at times.. Even the Out and About doesn't apply because we have no Sann Ess.as we can't carry it.I suppose we have been lucky and not much to complain with the sites.Been on some other comercial sites and at times fed up with the noise  after pub chucking out time.We will stick with the C&C.C.

Do me and my OH live on another planet? We have been in the C&CC for years and have used their sights 9 times out of 10, and never had any complaints to make at any site we've  been on except once when one site tried to charge us extra for the size of our tent .We've never felt any different from caravaners.  Last year we stayed twice at the Mablethorpe site, and once were the only tenters amongst the caravans and there was no snobbishness from anyone, we got on very well with all around us as we have on loads of other C&CC sites over the years. It looks like the  Out and About is only going to be printed every 3 months from now on , which gives you a bit more time to plan your days away, as for the magazine it seems it is bias towards caravaners,  but who's bothered it has interesting articles  and it's free And the money we now save with being pensioners more than pays for the membership fees and the assurance that you know you are going to a site with a good standard of cleanliness is well worth the money

This is our first year as C&CC members and have booked 3 sites: Leek for BH weekend in May,Horsely at the end of May and Teversal at the end of August. Hope all site managers are ok on these sites as I don't think i could cope with 2 year old toddler, 10yr old disabled child, and stroppy stewards.

you will have no prob at teversall. we been twice and despite bad weather site lovely, lots hard standing and good paths. wonderful en suite shower (x4) rooms so will be great for assisting disabled child i would imagine. wardens wonderful and couldnt be more helpful. we had easter there and they came to check trailer in one piece at 11pm due to winds!! we left early and they came to help to stop awning ripping. They are franchise i think so have an interest too. they have family and have camped with kids themselvs so are not daft. Cant say much for other 2 as never been.

Hi again.
All our early and late season camping is on C&C Club sites
and the majority of managers and assistants are very friendly and helpful. We do notice towards the end of the season the male managers seam to to get a little stressed out could it be they work harder than their partners joking apart, we all get out of bed at the wrong side some time or other, so now if they upset me on arrival I try to keep my cool until we meet next time, and I usually find the are fine then. as I said they get stressed out when they get a little pressure, do some of them
But in general you are assured of a clean well run site,
with a good class of members who will normally help another camper who is having a problem.
Rex.

As ex Managers for the C&CC I have just loved reading about all your different experiences of the Managers of various sites. Spent a little time trying to work out if we know or knew them. Of course there are some 'little Hitlers' amongst them but most run the sites efficiently, within the club rules and with the 'Friendly Club' in mind. I must say in the 14 years we were employed by them we had very very few complaints and lots and lots of compliments. On our retirement the campers organised a party for 70 at a local restaurant and we had loads of presents. A truly great send off. And we loved every minute of our working time with the club.

Oh Pippa you did a wonderful job and you are correct there will always be a Jobsworth or Hitler. We ahve only ever had minor moans and in general only stay on club sites due to their excellent facilities and the fact you know what you get. We have helped other campers on many occasions and have been helped too. We have been grateful to managers on many occasion and I do think they have a hard job at times, After all they have to put up with us campers all year. That is no mean feat in itself
