Goodbye to camping forum, we have bought 2 berth van to make life easier after last years awful weather and horrible experience of taking down large 3 pod breckenridge at brean sands in gale force wind and rain, everything soaked, were quite aprehensive about caravaning, after camping its a complete doddle, we think they invent problems to keep them busy, theres certainly more for hubby to break in a caravan! one trip out so far and people seemed friendly enough - thats the thing we will miss the most - all campers together (listening to next tent snore/tell kids off/have sex!!) just wanted to say thank you to all who replied to our many many queries and wails of help when we first joined and needed so much advice.

see you all soon

"We bought a two berth 'van to make life easier"...

A quick look at the posts in the 'Caravan' section and 'vans would seem to be a never ending source of worry, from what I can see!... Worries about dents, scratches, damp, maintenance, theft, towing, storage, insurance, etc. etc...

But don't let me put you off, I'm sure you'll have some brilliant times in your new 'van. Me... I'll stick to my 'worry free' tent thanks!...

May have happy times in your van   but do keep an eye on these pages to help the newbies along.      and don't throw the tent you may still find you miss the thrill of pitching in gale force winds

Hi.
Yes there is things to be said for both types of camping. Why not do both. You will find that you can not take the caravan to a lot of out of the way sites, also there are a lot of sites you can not use a tent. Do both we did for ten years but are now back to my favorite not necessary Val's.

Have a good time in the new van from us too but you still have a wealth of experience to give the tenters. We will still speak to you. Will you be the ones with a "We are tenters at heart" sign in the front of the shed. Sorry could not resist. Bit of the green eyed monster I think.!!

This is exactly what we intend to do.  We have inherited an old caravan which we went away in for the1st time last weekend but I don't think it'll be the same as tent camping.   We went away for 1 night, which we don't do with the tent as it takes too long to pack the car and pitch etc and also we wouldn't usually choose to camp on a wet and windy March weekend in a tent.  A caravan has it's advantages but there is nothing like cooking outside in the sunshine with a gorgeous view or waking up in a tent on a summer's morning.

Thanks for all your lovely replies, and yes I agree I am a tenter at heart because I chose to sleep in the awning rather than the warm van. speak to you all soon.

best wishes
