Hey all, I'm at work at the moment but am giving some serious thought to throwing the Camping gear in the back of the car at twelve and going somewhere for the weekend! What you all think? Is the weather man talking rubbish about the bad weather over the weekend? It's meant to be raining now and I got sunshine, I'm seriously doubting the -1 temps predicted for tonight, Maybe i'm just mad, Not 100% to go or not yet thou as I got an 18 month old daughter and really don't want her getting frozzen all night. Anyone local to northants? I'm planning on going to Wing Hall in Rutland if I do go it's not too far to drive and there is loads of space for the little one to run around.
Hi Matt
If you have the gear and know-how to stay worm then go.
Their is only one thing worse than been cold in a tent and that is wet and cold.
Good luck
Rex.

Hey all, Well I chickened out! I was really looking forward to going as well but just could not risk the bad weather with my daughter! I'm sat here now wishing I had gone but hey there is always next weekend! I did spend the day constructively thou and went and treated myself to a new camping stove and a new gas powered lantern.
Also like to point out that it was paid for by my horse coming in first on the Grand national !! How cool is that!
Have our old faithful Khyam out in the back garden using it to store some furniture and bits and pieces while we have an extension done. Just gone out to see the whole thing has collapsed under the weight of all the snow!!!!
Did you go? It's sunday now and this morning we woke up to the most wonderful view from the bedroom window. Sparkly white snow everywhere and brilliant sunshine. magic
We were camping over easter and had a great time even though it was a bit cold, wet and very windy the last night.
How I wish we were caming this weekend!!! It would have been so wonderful to have woken up to this morning's snowy view from the tent.
That's exactly what we had this morning....Heard a really odd zipping sound first thing and when I saw outside, I realised it was blobs of snow sliding down the sides of the tent!!
The kids have never seen so much snow it was lovely to wake up to but a NIGHTMARE to pack up and take the tent down!
Will try and get a photo in profile later if I can work it out..
I'm really jealous now of all you that ignored the weather man and went anyway! I so wanted to go camping as well, I got a new tent last weekend and am itching to get the thing put up and spend a night in it! If I did not have my daughter I would have gone without a doubt but I just can't see her enjoying being cold at night, I'm giving thought to getting a EHU, I just don't know if it's going to be worth it as the weather should start getting better soon, I might wait till the end of the year and get it then. I'm booked on the Oxford meet on the 25th of this month so unless we get a really good weekend before that then looks like it will be my first trip of the year!
B Chrystie there was someone searching for bedroom poles for the Excelsior a week ago if your tent is passed repairing perhaps your misfortune could assist them.
we too have an 18month old & have braved the elements this weekend. We do have EHU though & don't think I would have been brave enough to go if we didn't. I must say though, the little fella was hot!!! We have 3 season sleeping bags, liners & duvets! All week he has been so disturbed cos of the heat & last night (the coldest night) he slept so much better. As long as you are prepared, i think small children can put up with much more than we think they can. Believe me, I have spent the last few days pulling up his covers thinking he was moaning because of the cold & all the time he had sweat dripping from his brow.
It's the 2nd 1 we've had, seam coming unstiched on the 1st & tensioning strap on canopy coming unstitched on this! Carpet doesn't fit properly so has to go back. All being sorted tomorrow -new carpet & exchanging this canopy for the one on our old one. Haven't really had much luck with it so far but I still can't sing it's praises enough. Doesn't move in the wind, no draughts, quiet when it rains.
Beautiful.
Only one problem with it....it's costing me a fortune in site fees as no sooner am I home that I long to be off again.
