we've just booked to go to East Fleet Farm in Weymouth in the summer. we're still a little apprehensive as on our first camping trip (last summer) we spent most nights holding down the tent in the gales. We now just need to get a camping stove, some chairs and a table. any recommendations of good deals will be vry much appreciated

lisyp how on earth are you going to be able to wait until summer to get out there?  We go at the weekend and it seems a lifetime away! Argos do a two burner stove with grill underneath, I have my eye on this one myself!  Think its £44.99.  Check on metcheck.com for long term weather forecasts, if you dont already, theyre usually pretty spot on.

There are many factors when choosing equipment, how many people will use it?, how many are you cooking for? will you be doing a lot or a little cooking? what sort of budget do you have? the more information you provide the better advice you will get

The cooker mentioned above is good advice, we have the Camping Gaz two ring with grill, we also have the smaller suitcase type one ring stove for quick weekends away

As far as tables are concerned i would alway recommend the  aluminium roll top with steel legs, they are sturdy stable and take up less room when packed than a folding table

we will go somewhere before hand but thats the big holiday of the year, hopefully as soon as the sun shines we will pop across to norfolk.

i remember being glued to metcheck leading up to our summer break last year, it just got so depressing, heres to a better one this year.

thanks for the advice on the stoves, i'll look into them :-)

hi caster

theres 2 of us and we tend to do the cooking together. as for the table we just want something sturdy, we have seen the one recommended by you and have been tempted by it as it folds down nice and small and still allows room in the boot for the golf clubs. we would like to be able to cook a fair bit certainly breakfasts and the odd evening meal but if the weather is good enough we'll BBQ as much as poss.

as for budget cooker: approx £50 Table around £30 and chairs we are looking for the big boy chairs that asda had last year and really we dont mind what they cost as long as they are strong and fairly wide for a larger couple.

thanks

Hi lisyp

As i said earlier we have this cooker and can say it suits our needs and comes in within budget, bear in mind you will need something to put it on, i would err away from those wire concertina stands though and go for something more stable like this

The aluminium single roll top table is in my opinion the best option because of it's stabilty and small packing size

The Asda big boy chairs are ideal for the larger person (i'm 19 Stone), we have two which we bought last year and they are the best of this type of chair we have had, however some recommend looking at fishing chairs/Carp chairs, which i do admit look quite robust

Good luck with your shopping, if you hunt around there are some bargains to be had

WE bought a folding table from Tamworthcamping via ebay for £24 including postage.

One of the legs was damaged when we checked it over so I called them straight away.

Next day we had a replacement part delivered.

Talk about service.

Forgot to mention we already have the picnic type table which folds ( the four seats attached).

The folding table will mainly be for serving meals and holding the teabag container and other bits.

Hi we have just come back from our first camping weekend at East Fleet Farm (and booked for august) it was a great site with friendly staff and quite a lot of camping bits in the shop for sale, despite rain, wind and snow we had a fantastic time and the kids throughly enjoyed them selves. we took the folding picnic table but found it got in the way and are going to buy the roll up table as above for next time. Hope you enjoy your stay there as much as we did.

Tracy
