hiya emma,yes we have an airbed pump and i just deflate them on way home if i never took these steve would have a fit.

anyway im off to llangollen tonight so ill let you know what it was like.

Do the Vaccum type bags have a small opening so the camping 12 volt pumps will fit. I thought they had much bigger openings for a normal house hold size vaccum tube.

Hi we have just been away and used some vacuum bags i got off ebay i think they were 8.50 for 6 bags and each bag is big enough to fit a sleeping bag and blanket in. What i did was put stuff in and then squeezed air out before i sealed bad then used air pump to suck rest out as they have a small hole size of 5p they worked very well and i also stored stuff i didnt want to get wet in (like pump) while camping.

I just tried de-flating an Ikea vacuum bag with an airbed pump and it took less than a minute, job done.

you can do a budget DIY version with STRONG bin back and strong elastic bands - I have used successfuly for pillows in airing cupboard

I have had some of the *proper* vacuum bags but some of them are a swine to use as they have really stiff fastenings that slide together like those sealing plastic food bags.  If you get so much as a mm gap then the bags and contents expand in seconds.  Look out for ones with a zip type fastening is my advice

I got a large bag you roll from dunelm mill for £1.50 and they do a jumbo and a large for £5.99

I like the bags you roll rather than the vacuum bags its easier
