They only let in the wet if you pitch on a puddle, or pitch the tent badly. Otherwise not. In fact they let out the wet that people walk into their tents. We have never used a SIG, (even in Germany 2 years ago when it rained non-stop for the two weeks we were there - stayed dry though), so I can't comment on them.
As in many things there is a lot of fashion involved in camping (Cobbs/deltas/cr*cs etc) where people just want to spend, spend, spend.
