We had a two night trip this weekend, however we only spent one night. The heavens wouldn't let up, we handled the cold but the rain spoilt what we had planned (walking and visiting historical sites) and we reasoned that we would get drenched through and struggle to get everything dry so came home. Disaponited but we now know for sure the tent doesnt leek,

Strangly, since we took up camping last summer both our trips have resulted in puttin the tent up in rain! However we did enjoy it but would think again about going somewhere if all we wanted to do was outdoors with a wet forecast... may be we should get a trailer tent or a tin box?

We've found it best not to book unless it's a bank holiday, then we look at the forecast ,pick out the place where it say's there is going to be good weather ,phone the site around that area to see if they have room then go for it.I know this only works for us at weekends ,but it could work for longer holidays too. Even though it was a really bad season last year we got 6 good camps in without any rain.

You did very well then, 6 trips without rain.
Wise words, we have booked the May Spring Bank Holiday week to go in TT to Hunstanton, so hoping for sunshine.
However, do tend to watch the weather and decide at last minute for weekend stays, where you can just phone up and book.

Hey
c'mon you lot are you fair weather campers - we have had experience of some rain, thunder storms etc even in Tarragonna in Spain in August!! Couldn't come home then - make the most of it and laugh it off - bit of rain doesn't hurt anybody.
Life is too short.

The last time we camped (2006) we had heavy rain and bad storms, tent collapsed in the middle of the night (as did everyone elses, even pals mega bucks outwell). Luckily we werent tot far from home but has put me off a bit.
Kids loved it, its one camping trip they still talk about! :)
better luck next time
