Right I know this has been talked about a million times on other threads, but do any of you put anything underneath your airbed when camping. At the moment, ive got a footprint groundsheet underneath my tent, then the tent and ive got one of those double airbeds and sleeping bag in one. It gets very cold at night, and ive had loads of ideas from various people whilst on a campsite as to putting a foam mattress underneath the airbed, fleece blankets etc. But just thought what your ideas where on the matter.
Thanks,
Fogmeister.
------------- If only I could camp all year round!
We use picnic blankets under our beds. Last weekend our son used one of those thick foil roll up mats and it was actually very warm to touch when we were striking camp.

We always put blankets under sleeping bag, 2 is better than one. An extra layer under the airbed also helps if poss. we are saddo's and tested both! the layer under the sleeping bag seemed warmer than the layer under the airbed. an opened out cardboard box under airbed is as good as anything (if you're passing a supermarket) you can dump it then at end of hol.
I've found you're a lot warmer if you're off the ground...a cheapo camp bed(around 8 quid) is well worth the investment. Put the air bed on top of the camp bed...voila...sorted.
we use an old opened out double sleeping bag not only insulates under the air bed but covers all the bedroom floor, makes a lovely carpet first thing in the morning
