Hi Everyone!

Wow what an addictive site you have here, I think I've just spent most of today reading the boards and the tips on here,

Anyway I'm Chika and today took delivery of my very first "grown up" tent.  I'm very excited and can't wait to try it out.  its mega heavy and I can hardly pick it up so i might invest in a small one.

Anyway I need to go and get some kit.  I'm in Manchester and was thinking of Go Outdoors or Decathlon in Stockport.  Can anyone recommend either or does someone know of a fab outdoors shop in Manchester?  I quite fancy seeing teh stuff in person instead of getting it on the internet.  (My only worry is coming back with so much stuff i can't fit it in the car!)  How exciting!

Thanks for your help!

I like camperlands in northenden not sure of exact address but if you type camperlands in google they have a website. they have quite a few tents up and a large shop and the prices are very reasonable and staff are friendly and seem to know their stuff.

oh and welcome...i love camping and have found this site very useful

Hi

We are in Manchester and I can recommend Go Outdoors or Winfields in Haslingden is also really good for camping gear.

We bought our Monty 6 from Go Outdoors in Stockport.

You will find this site to be very addictive - my hubby thinks i've got an addiction to this site - he thinks it encourages me to spend more money on useful camping gear - really excited about going camping - sad isn't it???

We are going to attempt next weekend - what do you think?

This is a first but quite confident the Monty and SIG + Aerobed + Thermals + quilts + fleecy blankets etc etc etc - will keep us warm - what do you think?

Hello everyone, thanks for the replies!

Topsie thanks for the heads up about Camperlands, I cannot wait to go there this weekend.  I went to Decathlon and Go outdoors today, Go outdoors is amazing and I fell in love with this amazing tent.  Unfortunatly its wayyyy too big and I don't need it.  I have seen a couple of bits that I might add to my must have list though - the problem is this list keeps getting bigger and bigger!

Hi Ruby, I'll check out the place in Haslingden too, And i knwo what you mean about this site encouraging me to spend money!  I have learned so much though just from a couple of days.  I foolishly bought myself a tent that is far too big for me so I'm gonna get a smaller one in the next couple of days.

I'm sure you will be fine next weekend do you have a heater just in case?  I really want to go camping too but my mates aren't too keen on the idea and not sure if I wanna go on my lonesome!  I need to find some new camping friends!  Where are you planning on going?

Click on the 'events/meets' button above & see if there's any meets in your area, or an area you fancy visiting this summer - you certainly won't be on your own then, and you'll get plenty of help if you have problems pitching your tent

happy camping shopping!!(if your anything like me you'll find the camping shopping as addictive as this site and camping itself!)

Oh wow another vote for Camperlands.  I really wanted to go today but I think skipping uni just to look at tents may have been the last straw but I'm there tomorrow first thing!  I just found out it will only take me four minutes to drive there even though I haven't got a clue where it is.  Do you live near Naomi?  WooHoo can't wait.

Thank you JMGA, There are a few near here so I'll pop in when I'm in Bolton or surroundings!

not far, about 15mins drive i'm closer to go outdoors but don't rate it as much as camperlands (my boyf refuses to go to go outdoors after he fell down the stairs - long story don't ask!)

but it's great you'll find yourself there every weekend!!!
