Bought a second hand trailer last year for our first year of camping (after realising a Ford Focus couldn't carry 4 people + camping gear). It's been outside all winter other than checking the tyres is there any maintenance I need to do?.
Thanks
Paul
Hi.
as you don't say what type of hubs your trailer has, we don't know if you have removable wheel bearings or sealed ones usually on 8 and 10 inch wheels. But you need to check for wear on both type, Jack the wheel up and catch old of the top and bottom of the wheel and push the wheel top and bottom to see how far it moves, a small movement is fine but should the wheel move a lot, the sealed bearings may need replacing the removable ones may just require adjusting, If you do not know how to adjust or change wheel bearings it is best to get help to show you first time, and explain what a worn bearing looks like. The other thing is check the walls of the tyres for splitting and Tyre pressure. a smear of grease in the ball hitch. the rest is a cosmetic check.
Regards
Rex.
