Deefinitely an angle - makes them much stronger.
Plus, use good pegs, not the next-to-useless wire things most tents come with. I don't use deltas but to have very long sturdy steel pegs. I've had most of them for years and when I change the tent I include the pegs from the new tent.
Last tip - wherever there's a guide rope on your tent, use it - who knows what the weather will do during the night.
