JUST ME AND MY 4 YEAR OLD GOING CAMPING FOR 3 NIGHTS THIS WEEKEND. I WANT TO TAKE OUR MONTY6 FOR SPACE INSIDE TO PLAY WHEN ITS RAINING. ITS THE FIRST TIME THERE'S JUST BEEN ME AND MY DAUGHTER AND IM NOT SURE IF ILL BE ABLE TO PUT IT UP BY MYSELF AND I DONT HAVE TIME TO TRY B4 WE GO. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE WARMLY WELCOMMED.
....I wouldn't even attempt it myself. But I do tend to err on the side of common sense, having been in the postion in the past of trying to wrestle with a tent that's far too big for one person to handle in less than ideal conditions. (Hubby was called away on an emergency and my boys were 2 and 4 at the time.) Never again. I had to get it down because the pitch was booked to someone else that day, but if it hadn't been for the help of next doors teenage sons I would very probably have lost the tent.
Have you a smaller tent you can take? How much space does a four year old need to play in, really? If it was just me and DD in our Oregon 600 for example (a tent which I could pitch solo anywhere) she'd still have a space bigger than her bedroom at home to play in.

a monty 6 isnt the sort of tent you could pitch on your own, take down yes pitch no. do you have a smaller tent you could use. or maybe say where you are going and anyone else going to that site could give you a hand. or maybe ask when you get there for a hand off someone.

I agree. There are many tents you can erect by yourself but I don't think a Monty 6 is one of them. Mind you, someone will probably reply now and prove me wrong.
I pitch tent all the time and yes the Monty can be pitched on your own in perfect conditions and only if you have pitched it a number of times before. I would say dont do it. The tent is a comfortable 4-5 person tent and two of them should be adults.
If you must do it you must find some time and try to pitch it before you go, this will prove if its going to be ok or not.
I have pitched our Monty on my own, but it was very hard to do, even with my so called best made plan, you will need some help, only if, to get your first pole up, then going it alone is'nt too bad.
I have pitched one on my own, but i must admit it was on a perfect summers day, not a breath of wind, and I just couldn't wait to pitch the new tent. I wouldn't want to do it again in any other conditions tbh, it was hard work, and my back was aching afterwards.
I'll have a look through the old posts and find my instructions if you're dead set you are going for it.
It is do able but it is also hard work, don't forget when I did it it was a perfectly calm day, I dont think it would be a s easy with any sort of breeze. Plus I'm looking back in hindsight , two years later ,my back just wouldn't cope with it now. I'm 44 this year, Ive deteriorated since I pt this tent up, not sure if the tent contributed to the deterioration
