Going away for the first time in our new tent in 3 weeks. Assuming the weather is lovely, am wondering what to use to create some shade, baby will be 5months, ideally I want something that the whole family can sit under (kids and myself are very fair-skinned and burn).
Can anyone recommend something, that isn't hugely expensive and wont take up much room in the car. I've seen the Outwell tarp, but too pricy at £50 and not sure if it will create enough shade.
We've got a parasol, took it with us when Ryan was a baby but it didn't really give enough shade and we had to keep repositioning it throughout the day.
Hadn't thought od a canopy for the tent.. will look into that, only worry is how long that would make the tent and whether we'd still fit on standard pitch?
Cheap gazebo with sheets hung from the side. As the sun moves during the day most things will need to be moved to be honest but a gazebo with sides would be pretty cool.

Remember a good wife always helps her husband with the dishes.
There is a pop up gazebo that is on sale for £30 in woolworths at the moment down from £80. It says it pops up and down in seconds so you could just literally put it up when you are at the tent sitting in it. I would imagine a pop up one will also be smaller for travelling but thats just a guess.

If you need decent shade you really need something with sides (says the woman who doesn't "do" sun!), We have a sunncamp day tent, the four sides can be open and shut independently so we just drop the side or sides where the sun is coming from and keep the rest open.
We have a canvas tarp which breathes much better than the plastic tarp but nothing really creates as much shade as the daytent although the sun canopies on the front of the cabanons are pretty good but I do need to retreat some distance into the tent at times which is not too bad in canvas but pretty horrible in a plastic tent.
