I always got eaten alive till I started taking one a day garlic capsules 2 years ago. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM SINCE. PamJ
Im with PamJ on this one. Used to get bitten something rotten as soon as I stepped outside, one odourless capsule a day works wonders. Cant remember the last time I was bitten.

most people swear by Avon skin so soft the green one as it has cirtonella in it, also deet does the job. i use this fabric as well on me and the kids.
| ArnyWear | Home
they also say marmite is a good one because of the yeast
Sounds interesting, but I would like to know how it works. Is the fabric impregnated or what?
Cheers Latecamper

I seem to remember reading a thread on this topic last year where someone said that, as an alternative to marmite, yeast tablets work.

Hi Beautifullily. As Breeze says the garlic capsules are one a day jobs and I take them all year round. Supposed to be good for you anyway apart from the midgy deterrent. PamJ

I burn joss sticks - they don't blow out, smell nice and definitely keep the midges away.

I cannot say enough about Avon Skin So Soft. It is the ONLY thing that works for me and I spend most summers on the Isle of Skye which I am convinced has it's own breed of the little beggars - flying teeth as they are referred to by my American Step-grandfather.
It's the "soft and fresh" version of this and works far better than any insect repellent on the market even though it's not marketed for this purpose. My brother-in-law used to be in the army and they have even been known to use it themselves.
So you smell like a tart's boudoir (as same step-grandfather says) but hey..........
BTW years ago he and his first wife used to use it when sailing around the Scottish Islands. At night, they wiped some of it over the mesh on the boat windows because the Scottish midge can get through the tiniest of holes.
In the evenings when camping, I put it on my legs as that is where I get bitten most at that time of day.
Honestly, try it and you will not look back.
