My daughter asked "Can we leave the bedrooms in" when we tore down the camp last weekend ?
I can't see any reason why not, we only use the 4-man bedroom, and a 2-man bedroom, the other bedroom is left out, as we use it as a utility area for the loo etc.
I'm not too fussed about pack size, or even if it fits back in the bag, as we have a trailer for the camping gear.
Anyone do this ?
What about leaving the carpet in ?
I guess leaving the air-beds in the rooms would be a step too far........unless I deflated them first
Hi Andy. I have just rang outdoor megastore and they said you can leave the inners up when you put the tent down. I will try this myself, although i would like to get it back in the bag lol.

The bedrooms in my nevada were pre attached so I leave them in. The bedrooms in the kestrel were seperate, so I took them down before packing away .
The nevada bedrooms have no plastic groundsheet attached. the floor is the same as the walls, , the wynnster inners have a plastic groundsheet , so are much heavier. The extra weight of the inners might put more strain on the poles when erecting the tent.
I wouldn't leave the carpet in either, it would get too creased. And I would be airing it over the line at home to make sure its completely dried off before storing away
We have a Campus Indiana 8, which is similar but doesn't have a SIG. We leave our bedrooms attached at the top and have never had a problem. Does save time.

Andy I asked this a couple of weeks ago as we have just bought a kansas8. The replies I got were mixed but the one that did make my mind up not to leave them in was about the weight. It may put a strain on the poles. We also have the campus indiana 8, same tent no SIG. We find the kansas a bit tight to get ring and pin sorted anyway compared to indiana but maybe its because its new. I just think the extra weight may snap one of the poles. The instructions say to take down in the reverse order you used for putting up and it says put bedroom pods in afterwards. Let me know.
We've got this tent and have left the inners inside and attached with no problems when putting it up and down. The only drawback is getting it back in the bag is a bit more difficult but if you use the fold and refold technique as discussed on here you should manage it as we have. HTH
Hello, we have a large tunnel tent from Quechua. We always leave our bedrooms in now. It saves a lot of time. Our particular bedrooms do not seem too heavy, it doesn't seem an issue in terms of weight on the pooles. We leave them hooked up all along the sides and roof of the tent but unhook them from the hooks at floor level.
It still goes in the bag fine.

Hi. We now have a VAngo Orchy 600 and the bedroom is permanently in there anyway as the front bit of the bedroom is just sewn to the groundsheet. However, when viewing the DVD that came with it I noticed that they DID detach to roof clips of the bedroom pod and I surmised this was to reduce the strain on the poles when lifting the crossed over dome poles into shape; thye do advise having some one under the crossed point to support and lift, and I have always done this with full height domes.
I notice that some folks are saying they leave the bedroom fully attached and experience no problems - I would advise that you release the upper side and roof clips so the weight of the bedroom is not on the poles. It may seem fine without taking this precaution, but you don't know what long term weakening effect it may be having, especially on fibreglass poles. We had a small dome tent some years ago that appeared to survive a horrendous storm where it really thrashed about, but a couple of uses later a pole split and ripped the fabrics, and when we examined the poles we could see lots of tiny fracture lines through them.
Maybe I am over cautious, but poles are usually only guarranteed for a year or two when you read the fine print, and I want my tent to last longer than that!
I always take the bedrooms out of my Kestrel tunnel tent but that is mainly because I can never get everything back into the bag unless the fly is rolled up separately to the inners.
We have a Khyam Kansas 8 also and I've just asked the Bloke if we've ever tried leaving the bedrooms in (we don't usually) and apparently we did try once - my memory is crap lol - and we couldn't get the tent back in the bag. Although it should be noted that was during our first season camping, probably our first time out in that tent, since then we've become a little more accomplished in packing it away......we're also going to have a go at leaving them in again this year - un-attatched from the roof mind you, we've already had to replace one pole
I have the Ontario 8 and leave the inners in, never had a problem ring and pinning it when re-erecting. Used to have a problem getting it all back in the bag but can even manage that now, does save time when re pitching having the inners in.
