When you book on-line with the C&CC there is a requests box, no guarantees but I guess they will try to accomodate you the best they can.  All their sites have a contact number so you could ring before booking to see what the situation is.  From my experience of their site managers I am sure they will try and accomodate you as best they can.

Good luck

I am sorry to say that it's mostly first come first served in nearly all camp sites. We find now we are retired and still have a tent and need a flat pitch it is better for us to go on a Thursday , if you can wangle it do it

Maybe the sites could run a scheme similar to the one that the local buses do where they ask for a couple of pitches closest to the facilities to be left for older or incapacitated campers?

Hi i agree with corpogreen most sites are first come first served we normally take the friday off at bank holiday if we can and go thursday tea time, everyone has different ideas of where they want to be on a site for various reasons so my moto is get there early enough and you can get it.

I like the more relaxed type where you can pitch where you like, hence my comment about being miffed, but if you like more regimented type sites

Great use of language to convey personal preference LOL ! But nb we all like different things from our campsites, so I choose not to stay on free-for-all/survival of the fittest sites but on sites which are fairly-organised and well-managed but with a light touch.    MT

Hi. I am not sure why you think most sites are organised like this? I mainly book campsites in advance and am invariably given my pitch number at the time of booking. I have no idea how many camp sites organise their bookings the one way or the other!

In answer to the OP at the start of the thread,  I think you should look around for another campsite which organises their bookings in a way which suits your particualr needs better, which might well be one which allocates pitches at the time of booking rather than on arrival. MT

Perhaps it's time to move onto a caravan or B&B?  Best of luck and I hope your health improves.

Try this one! Real camping in the woods (you are even allowed a camp fire)! Only three loo's and one is adapted especially for (disabled) customers. Cheap, friendly and not too busy after the bank holiday migrants have gone home. Last year we had the whole site to ourselves after the Whitsun weekend had finished!

Great walks in the woods and a stream to!

There seems to be an argument over first-come-first-served versus pre-book the best pitches.

I have stayed at sites that pre-allocate pitches (just returned from one in York) and sites that wave you in and tell you to get on with it.

2mums2kids, you go every year at the same time, so plan ahead - phone he sites you fancy to see if they will acccommodate your needs. Plenty will, but if not, go somewhere else.

You are right, but so is JAQSZOO. Given that camping for many is about the freedom to leave it all at short notice, JZ can be rightly miffed to find that all the good pitches have been booked for months.

It's surely horses for courses, and the place to do the research is on this site on the reviews pages. I haven't booked without consulting the reviews for ages, and doubt I will again.

Hi alison48 Glad youve got the same idea as me, to take the Friday off and get there about 16.00 on the Thursday. Trouble is now everybody knows our little secret, you'll be having to take the Thursday off to get a good pitch if everybody takes our advice lol .What have we done

Hi 2 Mums, me again.

Check out YCP York Caravan Park. It takes tents, pre-books pitches and is well set up for the disabled. I've just got back & was impressed. Have posted review though will take a few days to come through.

Hiya, I have a 7 year son with autism.  I always phone the sites and explain my sons disability.  So far its been great, get a pre-booked pitch, usually quiet for our sons needs.  All the sites have been lovely, also different types and sizes.

Good luck

Jo
