Hi, there. Ive been lurking around this forum for about a month now and numerous camping shops and ive now taken the plunge. This morning ive just bought a Vango Venture 500. Great price from go camping on offer at 59.99. I have read on this forum that its a good tent for pitching solo. Im a 5"7 lady so im hoping this is the case.

I was slightly alarmed at the easy pitch comments re the VV500 when i could hardly carry the box into my car.  Im such a noob as i soon discovered that there are two bags inside the box and they are both easy to carry

Im going to practice pitching the tent a few times before i go away in the garden so fingers crossed i'll manage. Does anyone have  any hints or guide to pitching the tent that may help me please?

I saw that offer after it was mentioned on the forum.

I've been considering buying it myself for the last few days( and still might!) but have four( going on five) tents already.

Loads of members have bought the VV500 and you won't be short of any advice you need.
Good luck!

We have a VV500 which we use as a weekend tent with our 2 dogs and we think its great. We like the full head height in the bedroom area and the living space is fine for the 2 of us. We have also purchased the large sun canopy which fits fine on the VV500 although the guy ropes do obstruct the side door which is ok as with the canopy you only use the front door.

It is an easy tent to pitch as you just thread the poles through the outer, raise and pin the dome then peg it out at each corner. Then thread the porch, pin and peg it out then clip in the inner and secure the groundsheet, then finish off pegging the outer elastic peg pints. Finally peg out all the guy lines. You will after practice have the tent completely pitched in 15 - 20 minutes.

Oh damn!!  We have a perfectly reasonable 4 man tent which has just had its 1st proper outing but now I want the VV500.  It looks so much easier to pitch than the one I have (I'm 4'10" and also have to pitch solo).  Mind you there were various lovely campers around this weekend offering a helping hand.  I CAN pitch mine without help though so I would imagine the VV500 would be a pretty good option for you.

Happy camping and just be warned this camping malarky is addictive!!  Now do I really need a new tent and where would I keep it???

I'm only 5ft3 and can pitch the VV500 on my own....in fact I find it easier doing it by myself than having the OH getting in my way . Although I do need his help to pitch the Monty! so he does have his uses!!!

Have a great time in your new tent.
