hallo all

im basically a motorbike camper so everything has to be uber light, i have a very light (and very cheap) millets tent which is single skinned and cost £7 lol

the plan is to go mooching around wales with some friends for random weekends in the next few months, we did a dummy run friday night and have come up with some problems

main one is i woke up feeling like id been battered, slept in a sleeping bag on the floor, woke up 5 times and got 4 hours sleep a camping mat is made from very thin foam so doubt that would be any good and it takes up loads of space i dont have on a motorbike, an airbed would be ideal for storing but they seem to deflate during the night, and if you dont have a pump (i blew up my mates double airbed via taking the big cap off and blowing into that) you end up nearly passing out 5 times

im also thinking about going for a different tent as the fire we had spat and i have a few extremely tiny holes in my tent, although its in the garden now as i want to see if itll leak, its not the most spacious of tents aswell as i shared with a mate but he can sleep outside next time

cheers all

sam

Not tried it myself but I've seen several motorbike campers using lilos!  Cheap and cheerful and easy (well easier) to blow up than an airbed!  Plus takes up far less room deflated.

You could try a self inflating mat.  We got some cheap at Aldi (or Lidl) last year.  They are about the same size as the foam mat to carry but inflate to 2/3 times the thickness.  I find them fairly comfy and I'm a girl  - LOL!!!  Unlike the air beds they are also quite good for warmth and don't deflate.

I also got a reasonably priced 2-man (about £12 I think) from tog24.  It is dead easy to pitch and has a wee porchy bit out front - perhaps not quite big enough for your mate tho.  Its done us proud!!

Enjoy!!

I bought a self-inflating mat from Decathlon a few weeks ago.

It was only about £20and the best bit is it folds down really small! It folds in half first before you roll it up so is only half the size of most others. It also comes in a drawstring carry bag.

I found it really quite comfy (I'm not like Hubby that cans sleep on a washing line pegged up with his toes! I need to be comfy to sleep!)

it was this one

They have gone up by £5 since I bought mine!! Well recomended though!!
