We have been looking at the huge choice of sites and were shocked to see some of them asking for €50 or more a night ! That is around 40 pounds ! (sorry no symbol for pounds on keyboard)
I think that is ridiculous for a tent, car and 3 people with EHU.
Many are around €20 (15 pounds).
What would be considered to be a reasonable nightly rate?
The most we have paid so far is €28 and refuse to pay €50!
Karin.

£15 - £20 per night max, Paid a bit more a few weeks back because we were on a CC site as non-members but that is the only time, never been less than £15

I don't think I would pay more than £25 in peak season for 2 + 2 with EHU and car.
This pricing malarky is one reason why we favour C&CC sites, you know exactly what you will pay and the price is fixed at the beginning of the year

Ok guys what is CL, CC and CC and C & CC?
I am newbie (learning fast but not sure the learner plates can go just yet lol) and not English... HELP
And Sapper... these rates are in Holland, Germany & Belgium ! Not even looked at UK ones yet. Last time we drove to the Uk I was not very keen on the ferry.
Why cant we take cars on planes?
I did think those higher rates were ridiculous. And then there are tourist taxes (not leaving my country and I am a tourist?), sometimes trash and water taxes. Can be over €3 a person on top of all the other stuff.
Who said get a hotel... oh spankies ! Lol

Not been camping in Holland, but 50 plus euros a night does sound expensive. If you don't want to cross the water (and I can't blame you!) Can I suggest you have a look in France, where you should be able to get an all singing all dancing site for 30 euros a night, and plenty with enough facilities for 20 euros.

Whooops sorry didn't think ..... C&CC is Caravan and Camping Club
CS = Certificated sites, small sites that take upto 5 caravan plus tents which are checked and certified by the C&CC
CC = Caravan Club and CL = Certificated Location, their version of a CS
Hope that helps
Pauline

Thanks Pauline... appreciated :)
And Andy... we are looking at France, and many other places lol
We were at a great site earlier this month here in Holland that was only €21 per night and it was fabulous so we figured the others were overpriced.
As long as there are toilets, showers and a supermarket not too far away then I am happy.
Just think.. €50 a night.... 10 nights and that is a decent new tent !
